🌹The Knight of the Trove ARC Review🌹

Thank you for the opportunity to ARC read this book!

Rating: āļøāļøāļøāļø/5

Blurb:
What if the princess didn't want to be rescued from the dragon?
As the well-trained knight of a dragon's trove, former princess Nesrin would rather fight off suitors than invite one in. Twelve years ago, Nesrin's uncle murdered her mother and stole her deceased father's throne. Now a grown woman, she protects herself and the dragon trove from the interloping "rescuers" her uncle sends to retrieve her so he can marry her off to the highest bidder.

In a neighboring kingdom, Kas was forced to take monastic orders when he was a child, but the handsome monk volunteered when his country needed someone to find the lost artifact Nesrin's uncle seeks: a magical golden casket rumored to make any army invincible. Desperate to do his part in the coming war, he arrives on Nesrin's doorstep with a quest she can't refuse. If they can find the casket first, the nations united against her uncle's iron rule might have a fighting chance.

What I loved:
The quest vibes were strong in this one and I eat up a good treasure hunt with abandoned ruins and dragons. I loved the characters and the touches of humor really made the story entertaining. Nesrin and Kas as a duo were so precious to me, I felt like they really balanced each other out and no matter what they faced, they were going down swinging together🄲

🌹What I didn’t love:
The slow burn was SLOW and Nesrin girlie I was right there with you when you wanted Kas and couldn’t have him. That being said, I felt like the slow burn was good, however the resolution seemed a bit rushed to me, but I’ll allow it because I wanted them together so bad by that point😩

You’ll like this book if you enjoy:
🌹Forbidden love
🌹Cinnamon roll monk MMC
🌹Grumpy knight FMC
🌹SO much tension and pining
🌹Slow burn with HEA

Okay, this book starts off slow. It takes a good 30-40% to really start picking up pace. Just be patient! It was so worth it! Kas?! Absolutely adore him. He's so wholesome and lovely while still being such a fierce protector. Nesrin? Her backstory is gutwrenching but it doesn't make her unrelatable. By the end, I truly adored this book and was going to be devastated if it ended differently. Thank you Holly Rose for an ARC of this great story!

ā€œā€¦our shadows always follow us, no matter how hard we try to stay in the light.ā€

ā€œThe Knight of the Trove,ā€ by Holly Rose

What I loved:
-The traditional damsel in distress fairytale story with princes going to a castle protected by a dragon to save the princess trapped inside but this princess doesn’t need saving because she isn’t trapped at all.
-The Arabian setting, I’ve noticed a lot of books being written in the setting of a desert and I’m here for it. The perfect imagery and also unique difference when the traditional fairytale isn’t even in the traditional type of place.
-Tension between the love interest because he is a monk and trying not to break his vows despite him never wanting to be a monk at all.
-Strong FMC X Soft MMC
-The trauma in the past of the main characters. These characters were written so well and solid and felt everything they felt.

There was nothing I would’ve changed in the book. 5 out of 5 stars. Can’t wait for the next book in The Knights of Mellora series.

-Dragons
-Arabian
-Strong FMC X Soft MMC
-Monk X Princess
-SA Trauma

Thank you for the ARC, Netgalley.

Special thanks to Holly Rose for this eARC ā¤ļø all opinions are my own.

What a fun adventure! Nesrin and Kas embark on an adventure together to save the kingdom. If you love dragons, knights, and a little mystery, this book is for you! Nesrin, our strong female fighter falls for the gentle monk (who has some secrets of his own!). The tension was *chefs kiss*, broken by the right amount of humor.

The plot features plenty of twists and unexpected details to stay engaged throughout. I enjoyed the discoveries the pair made, their growth, and their love. Ady, the dragon, comes with her own surprises.

I enjoyed Holly Rose’s writing style. The chemistry built slowly and by the time I got to the end, I wasn’t ready for their story to be over! This book could have gone on another 200 pages and I would have kept happily reading.

I’m taking away a half-star for a lack of CWs and for some plot holes. The CW is vague and doesn’t mention any triggering themes and I wish some of them were mentioned. Readers don’t get to understand Kas’s heritage stated at the end, about which I was VERY curious. There’s also the mention of missing magpies (messenger birds) in the story but no clarification is given as to why other than a guess that they were being intercepted. Also, no mention of Father Ramdar. I hope these are all addressed in the next books because these felt like important details to the plot that didn’t get answered.

Overall, not enough to disappoint and I will read the next one when she’s ready to do another round of ARCs. Loved the romance and adventure of this book.

Thank you to the author Holly Rose for the opportunity to read the eARC! All opinions are my own.

I want to preface this review with the admission that I do not normally read indie fantasy. I haven’t actually found any that I truly adored. But when I saw this has a feisty but introverted FMC and a cinnamon roll MMC… I decided, ā€œlet’s give it a shot!ā€

And I am SO Sooooo glad I did. This was such a fun and exciting experience. It’s like Princess Bride if she was a Knight and he was a Monk and they journeyed together more. I absolutely adored their banter and the delectable slow burn romance between them. I was squealing and smiling so much while reading.

Obviously this book is a Romantasy, but I also really liked the world building. It’s not super dense or complicated. Very easy to understand and I appreciate that because sometimes I get overwhelmed by complex fantasy topics. šŸ™ˆ This was just a fun and exhilarating ride!

I really hope more people will read this book and I can also say: it’s a ā€œstandaloneā€ and the series will focus on different characters from the world! I’m actually quite excited about this because I was hoping to get a nice solid conclusion but also because the next book has a really interesting protagonist! šŸ‘€šŸ‘€

Highly recommend to slow burn Romantasy fans! And yes, there is spice. šŸŒ¶ļø

Yes.
I was immediately interested in this book after hearing it was like a reverse damsel in distress. With a cute monk, dragons, and quests? Sign me up!
There's some good world building, and we meet lots of interesting characters. I loved the story and the journey they had to go on together. Lots of great action scenes!
Forbidden love trope! Very well done. There is one spicy scene in the book, and it is great! As much as I love a spicy book, this one was interesting enough that I didn't miss the spice much!
Check your trigger warnings! There is on page animal death. I knew this going in, but I was still sad when I read it.
This book wasn't too long, and as much as I enjoy a good series, the fact that we got a great action-packed story that's fully wrapped up at the end is just *chef's kiss*
Loved this book!!

Thanks to Holly for the ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley, Holly Rose, and the publisher for allowing me access to the e-Arc.

I had a lot of fun with this book. If you love a journey story with some romance and dragons then you might just love this story. I would have given it a higher rating but the writing felt at times like it was written for a slightly younger audience. This story is definitely an adult story with mature themes. I would still likely recommend it!
