Thank you Random House for the free book.

Gorgeous grifters seducing billionaires? Just another day in Duluth!

…or, the premise of Wendy Heard’s delicious thriller about two wily women who get in over their heads with a suspiciously sympathetic tech bro.

I had two problems with the book, one it was very predictable, and two the narrators' voices were so similar it was hard for me to tell them apart.
I did like the story. I thought it was a more complex story than some mystery/thrillers. However, I knew who the killer was and what he'd done previously pretty early in the book. The big sign was right there staring you in the face. I wish the author had made it less obvious.
I did like the moral/lesson of the story. As well as the ending and the non-traditional main characters. While I don't usually prefer unlikable mcs the ones in this book were just relatable enough to make the book interesting.
Overall, an okay book, with good but similarly voiced narrators.

"You Can Trust Me" by Wendy Heard exceeded my expectations! I could not stop reading this book and refused to put it down until I was finished with it.  From the very first chapter, I was transfixed with main characters. Best friends and brilliant con artists Summer and Leo have two dual stories slowly revealing what happens when Leo goes missing. Summer winds up on a secluded, private island owned by a billionaire looking for her. Their dual perspectives unravel two mysteries wrapped up in one story. There is obviously more going on than what is on the page, and that was enough to keep me guessing until the book finished. Author Wendy Heard lets the story simmer as a claustrophobic slow-burn until it all comes to a head in the last few chapters of the book. I found this to be a binge-worthy summer mystery you won't want to miss!

Thank you to NetGalley, Wendy Heard, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine and Bantam for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for my review.

I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is a solid summer read--a fast-paced popcorn thriller following two women navigating the sinister secrets of the wealthy in the tech industry as they try to escape a private island. (The White Lotus comparisons are apt.) The pacing falters in spots, and there's an issue with tense congruity (some chapters are in past, others in present) that might be a conscious choice--can't get into it too much without revealing spoilers--or is an oversight that would hopefully be fixed before publication. Overall, it's a fun book with just enough cat-and-mouse drive and a twist that's easily predictable but still shocking enough to keep one reading.

I love a good thriller and I find long cons fascinating, so I was excited about this book that combines the two. I was NOT disappointed!

I loved Summer and Leo's found family relationship. It was fascinating to see how their backgrounds led to the way the lives that they live now. The thriller was compelling and kept me reading. Watching the con play out was fascinating too.

Overall, the characters of Summer and Leo were well-developed, but I would have liked more backstory on the rest of the key characters. I took one star off because parts of the big reveal felt like they relied too much on coincidence for me.

A huge thank you to the author and the publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

Summer and Leo are conwomen who are always on the move. When Leo sets her sights on billionaire Michael Forrester, she thinks she’ll finally be able to pay Summer back for everything she’s done for her. However, when Summer isn’t able to get in contact with Leo after her date with Michael, she takes matters into her own hands to find her friend and cons her way onto Michael’s private island where not everything is as it seems.

YOU CAN TRUST ME by Wendy Heard was a fast-paced ridiculous ride and I was immediately sucked into the plot!

This book was ultimately about the friendship between Summer and Leo, which was so beautiful, and the stakes one is willing to take for the one they love. Summer and Leo were such strong characters and their backstories helped shape them in a nice way.

The twist hit me right before it was revealed, and it was shocking and heartbreaking at the same time.

This is going to make for the perfect beach read this summer!
