This book was such a page turner! I even read the authors note at the end (which I usually never do Lol). Not a spoiler but a warning, this is a psychological thriller about an abduction inspired by true events. However, it is fiction and also pretty detailed with the violence. So if that stuff bothers you then you probably won’t enjoy this book.
fast-paced

Hoping for another shot at the Olympics, Mylie takes a summer job as a camper in the woods. This job allows her some extra money while being in an environment that allows her to continue to train.  She ignores  staffer’s warning to take bear spray with her while she’s running due to a camper who was killed a few years ago by a bear.  Not being afraid of bears, she doesn’t listen. She goes about her training until one day she finds herself being abducted by two men. Forced into captivity for the purpose of manual labor and sex, she realizes that the previous camper who was killed by a bear wasn’t killed after all. Now being held with a brainwashed person, who had been held captive for four years, she is trying to figure out how to escape all the while hoping someone is out there looking for her.

This was a typical kidnapping story to me (of course, there is nothing typical or less horrifying about kidnapping in general).

The fact that Miley and Brent were Olympians added somewhat of a fresh twist to it. My heart broke for the girls when they were getting assaulted. The author did a good job of making me strongly dislike the kidnappers. Wes was a solid character. The reveal of what happened to Miley's mom came right on time. That was so sad, that Miley had to carry that.

The ending was adorable.
