In which we forget about our main plot for a while, but it's forgivable because we get to run around with the Black Arrow, AKA Raven, AKA the Pirate Princess. And Adrienne gets to be oblivious about a variety of things and then figure some of them out. But not all.

This is still super charming, I wish there was more character development but we did get a little world development in this vol. about how their fathers, our main dragon girl and pirate girl( I can not remember names very well) are enemies, and wolf clans. These volumes are pretty fun and a breeze to get through. I recommend these if you like female protagonists, D&D type stories, or looking for a different take on princesses. ~Ashley

Cute, but a bit dull.

I mean, I sped right through it, but it was also the first book not written for 3-5th graders that I read for several months.
Totally agree with Erica about the fight on the dragon, and specifically wanna call out the concern for injuring each other's faces. WAY too much emphasis on personal appearance to fit with a badass warrior character (cf Brienne of Tarth), or, at least, in a story purported to be changing comics in a feminist way...
Yeah, think I'm done too - starting to read this looking for the problems. Which is not going to help the world of cool comics love.

This volume of Princeless had nothing to do with Adrienne’s original storyline of rescuing her sisters. Instead it introduces a whole new princess: Raven the Pirate Princess. I liked her so much that I dare say I may like Raven more than Adrienne!

A cute story, though i'm clearly walking into it a few books late. I like the idea, and I'd be interested to read the previous books to see how they stack up. 7 year old me would have been absolutely mad about this book (and probably the whole series).

Black Arrow is THE BEST. I'm so glad she got her own spinoff series!!!!

Good intro to our favorite queer pirate queen. I did think it was a little early in the Princeless saga to be introducing a new character/new series so soon! I mean, let this character breath and walk before you're already trying to get the new one to run, right? But, regardless, this kinda slow start to the series is definitely worth it in the long run, so stick it out if you loved #1 like me.

Recommends it for: Anyone who wants to smash the patriarchy. (And likes fun goofy dragons.)
