Going straight to the point and making this as brief as possible, I liked the This Lullaby. It's my first Sarah Dessen book and, as mentioned by most of the reviews I have read, it will not be the last. I enjoyed flipping through the pages and finding out how a cynical girl who does not believe in love will be changed by the overly enthusiastic and optimistic musician. The characters were okay, pretty normal and nice to read about, though not really exceptionally different from most YA characters I have come to read. But they were good, in terms of fitting with the story and developing throughout the book. Maybe not all of them, but Remy at least (Well duh! She's the main character). Her mother has been one of the shocking revelations of the story. Ah, the wisdom of mothers. Bow! As for book the story, it was a little clichéd and predictable, but nonetheless, it went well. I was not really affected that much by Remy and Dexter's romantic encounters. It was funny and sweet, but that was just about it. All in all, one great chunk of thoughts put together in a story that will make you ponder on some things about love and taking chances. 3.5 Stars! :)

One of my favorites, I can never put it down. Her work is magnificent and you can't go wrong with whichever one you choose. But, definitely choose this one! The characters are relatable and you'll want to read it over and over again, or maybe that's just me...
Sometimes a Sarah Dessen book is just what the soul needs. Sure maybe you would get more credit for reading a book with a "deeper and more philosophical meaning" but love is deep and philosophical in its own way! If it wasn't we wouldn't let ourselves be as consumed as we are! Remy is a "take care of myself" kind of person with a heart of stone. That is until she is run into by the most opposite guy for her in this world. This book was so fantastic not only because it wasn't overly sappy and the feelings felt by the characters were totally relatable to the readers lives. But because it shows us that just because your living your life doesn't mean you have to give up on a great love. I found this book absorbing and not boring in the least.
Remy, the main character in this book, is not a romantic. Her mother is about to embark on marriage number five. Remy is going to Stanford in the fall, and she wants a summer fling that she can end before moving away. This is the plan when her path collides (literally) with Dexter. Dex is everything Remy is not: artistic, disorganized, a free spirit. His band is in town for the summer, and then they will move on to the next town. This seems like a perfect match! Until Remy starts to realize that some people are worth holding on to...
This was my first Sarah Dessen book, and I read it in 2 days! I would definitely read some of her other titles.

This is my favorite Sarah Dessen book and has been since I started reading them years ago. While Dessen's books do have a very familiar formula, this one is the most authentic.
This lullaby has to be my all time favourite Sarah Dessen book. It is just full of wit, life lessons and how nothing will always stay the same. The characters in the book represented a well rounded view of teenagers going into early adulthood, such as Lissa who wants high school to carry on in college and Remy who is ready for the change and cannot wait for it to happen. The plot of the book was intriguing, after Remy being disappointed by her late father and only being left with the lullaby. Furthermore her mother's take on marriage, leaves Remy's perception of love pretty messed up. However the arrival of Dexter disrupts her view on how long a relationship should last ( for Remy it is definitely short term) and even though he is disorganised and clumsy he believes he is in Remy's life for the long run. Even the smaller stories within such as Remy's mum and Don, Truth Squad, Remy's friends future and Christopher and Jennifer Anne all linked in to give the book marvellous twist, It is a book about what true love really is and how 'not everyone will want to let you down'.

And so continues my re-reading of one of my favorite authors from high school. I devoured this now as fast as I did then. It's nice to know some opinions don't change of your favorites.
I thought that this book was ok. It wasn't my favorite Sarah Dessen book but I did love Dexter.
