I like that the book emphasized Aquaman’s role as king and as a husband to Mera, but I guess I find the politics just predictable and wonder if more sea adventure would be better.

So, with the Justice League movie hitting theatres in less than two months (!!!!), you are bound to see me reading more and more DC comic books, as the date approaches and my excitement increases. The Drowning is, actually, my first solo Aquaman run, and even though I do have a few complaints, I can see myself getting into his solos.
Overall, I’d say it’s a pretty mediocre volume. It’s not bad exactly, but it doesn’t stand out either. It’s a bit messy and a bit all over the place, but I found the actual storyline quite intriguing. The premise is good, the execution falls a little short, but it’s not a particularly bad volume I regret spending money on.
I loved the action sequences – especially Mera punching a certain someone (yes, yes I do love that certain someone, but it was fun to watch) – even if their presence meant the characters would be inconsistent and somewhat out of character. As I’ve said: not a great volume, but a damn fun one.

Like…if I want to read a story about a president who will blame the problems on whoever's the closest foreigner I can just look at the news, thanks very much

This is a great issue even if it does feel a little too familiar to older Aquaman fans.

I enjoyed this. I was always interested in learning more about Aquaman and his powers. Definitely would like to read more about his adventures.

This Aquaman series is amazing! In this new 52 series Aquaman, is no longer the butt of jokes, he's a badass!

Arthur is not fully accepted by the humans, the people of the sea, or the Justice League and constantly has to prove himself (making Aquaman so relatable and real, which I had no idea he could be before this series). The storyline is outstanding and is an absolute page turner, full of shock moments, thrilling events, and relateable emotional battles. I highly recommend for comic/superhero readers, this series is insanely entertaining.

Arthur se snaží vést mírová jednání se suchozemci, vytvoří proto Atlanťanskou ambasádu, která je napadena Black Mantou. To rozpoutá další sled událostí. Suchozemci nevěří Atlanťanům a navíc je potopena jejich loď. Tu napadla teroristická skupina, kterou Arthur nedávno zničil, alespoň si to myslel. Naštěstí má Arthur svou milovanou Meru po svém boku a své věrné následovníky, kteří mu situaci pomůžou vyřešit.
