I picked this book because I wanted to read something similar to wait for me after school, but it wasn’t the same, of course.

A Certain Someone is about the relationship between Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian. They met because their parents were dating. We get to follow them during their day-to-day lives at school. It’s a very slow book. It was very realistic in a dull way, but it was good nonetheless. It’s so long!! I have been reading this for six days now and have barely managed to finish it.

I started to skim 70% in. I felt like it would never end, and nothing dramatic really happened; it’s all about the school, exams, and classes.

The relationship's evolution is slow, but it’s there.

Overall, it’s a nice read if you have nothing else to read.

★★★★☆ [4/5 stars]

The angst is real in this novel. I thought it was as lighthearted as Fake Slackers but I was proven wrong. My eyes are all swollen because of all the family and relationship drama, and even though the last few chapters were spent getting all the things in order again and giving us the fluff we need and the MC and ML deserved, my swollen eyes were not recovered. Imagine how much I've cried to maintain my swollen eyes until the end. My heart also ached a few times. I really wanted to listen to the audio drama, but unfortunately, there are no available translated audio dramas. This is my second school life/coming of age BL novel I've read but this is my first time reading an 'angsty' one and despite all the tears I've spent, I have no regrets!! Trigger warning for homophobia. But all in all, highly recommended!!

Musuli is one of my favourite writers, and this book was so good to read, with well written characters and simple, yet interesting plot. Some of the chapters left me with a soft, mushy feeling, some were truly heartwrenching, and some where so funny if their simplicity of human interactions. It was a much needed read - and truly, it's a perfect day to finish this novel.
Happy birthday, Jiang Tian. You are so loved.
