I picked this book because I wanted to read something similar to wait for me after school, but it wasn’t the same, of course.
A Certain Someone is about the relationship between Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian. They met because their parents were dating. We get to follow them during their day-to-day lives at school. It’s a very slow book. It was very realistic in a dull way, but it was good nonetheless. It’s so long!! I have been reading this for six days now and have barely managed to finish it.
I started to skim 70% in. I felt like it would never end, and nothing dramatic really happened; it’s all about the school, exams, and classes.
The relationship's evolution is slow, but it’s there.
Overall, it’s a nice read if you have nothing else to read.

★★★★☆ [4/5 stars]
The angst is real in this novel. I thought it was as lighthearted as Fake Slackers but I was proven wrong. My eyes are all swollen because of all the family and relationship drama, and even though the last few chapters were spent getting all the things in order again and giving us the fluff we need and the MC and ML deserved, my swollen eyes were not recovered. Imagine how much I've cried to maintain my swollen eyes until the end. My heart also ached a few times. I really wanted to listen to the audio drama, but unfortunately, there are no available translated audio dramas. This is my second school life/coming of age BL novel I've read but this is my first time reading an 'angsty' one and despite all the tears I've spent, I have no regrets!! Trigger warning for homophobia. But all in all, highly recommended!!

Musuli is one of my favourite writers, and this book was so good to read, with well written characters and simple, yet interesting plot. Some of the chapters left me with a soft, mushy feeling, some were truly heartwrenching, and some where so funny if their simplicity of human interactions. It was a much needed read - and truly, it's a perfect day to finish this novel.
Happy birthday, Jiang Tian. You are so loved.

Moderate: Homophobia

read this recently coz i liked this author's other book [b:全球高考|54549894|全球高考 (Traditional Chinese Edition)|卷書 萬|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1594881501l/54549894._SX50_.jpg|85116893]. i really like the author's writing style because it's really humorous but clear.
this is a slowburn, coming-of-age, slice-of-life high-school romance. the two main characters were introduced each other as stepbrothers at the start of the book. they started out misunderstanding and disliking each other but slowly came to like and fall in love with each other. all this is set against the backdrop of high school, so most of the drama revolves around the character's grades and standing in the school.
i heard that the last 20% suddenly takes a dark turn into trauma so i'm a bit meh about it. but the first 60% is really cute and feel-good. i LOVE the side characters: the teachers, the two characters' classmates... there are a lot of comedic and funny moments too. i loved the process of the two characters falling in love. Sheng Wang's slow realization of his feelings was really well-written.
i've stopped at about 60% because i got bored... there was a period where i read A LOT of high school stories. so while this story was really enjoyable, i'm just personally kind of bored of the high school setting.
