I was so excited to read this and .... it just wasn't for me.
PROS:
The writing. I may not have loved the story, but it was well written and I would read more of her books in the future.
Loved the relationship between Zoey and Hannah (all the feels).
I couldn't stop laughing at the Loch Ness scene or the Karen/Flacon scenes. Brilliantly funny.
CONS:
ZOEY!!!!! I had such a hard time liking her. I think part of this is because I felt like I understood her taste in music more than I could really understand why she:
(1) didn't want to get married
or
(2) why she didn't discuss it! How do you find yourself in a relationship for 18 months and it doesn't come up?
Also - and it has been mentioned in other reviews -
Rylan was too perfect. And I get it - when you are in love you only see the best, etc. but really, who is that perfect? I mean he shows up in Ireland with another woman - who he started seeing TWO weeks after he proposed - and Zoey doesn't shit on him? Seriously?
And then ending!!!!! for Zoey to run off and make out with Ezra right away Rylan and her big farewell.... that was annoying. I almost wish that the book had allowed for more time between the break-up and the wedding in Ireland and that Zoey would have arrived in Ireland thinking she wanted to win Rylan back to realize that maybe Ezra was a better fit. I think that would have been more interesting... or maybe that would have been too "rom-com" which isn't what I think the author was going for. It was more about Zoey understanding and believing in herself rather than needing a man to complete her.
I honestly would have been happier with the ending if it had ended with Rylan saying goodbye and then Hannah telling Zoey she deserves a guy who would move mountains for her.
Also - I don't understand how she was a bad luck bridesmaid - other than telling the first bride that she was being cheated on... the other two brides made up their minds on their own. It was a bit of a stretch.
Overall...
It was fine. 2.5 stars.
Like I said, I would read more from the author since I like her writing style.

I had the hard copy of this book checked out from the library, but I wound up listening to the audiobook. Sarah Naughton was the perfect narrator for this, and for the most part, I enjoyed a lot of this book.
I absolutely loved Zoey’s character. She’s tough, smart, motivated, successful, and confident as hell. She’s a great friend, and I loved the majority of her music (with the exception of Taylor Swift … please don’t hate me but I’m a 90s girl). And she’s proudly Jewish, which is fabulous to see becoming more mainstream in books. But her biggest flaw is that she is marriage-averse, even though her boyfriend is pretty much Gods gift to the world. He’s smart, sweet, and sexy as hell. And he gets Zoey in a way that most guys don’t seem to.
Her feelings towards marriage are further backed up by the fact that she’s been a bridesmaid in three weddings that didn’t actually result in a wedding. There’s plenty of background, and while I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, it was a bit slow-moving at first. I enjoyed the humor threaded throughout the story, and found myself kind of wishing I could become friends with Zoey, because she seems really fun and the definition of women’s empowerment.
With her negative view of marriage, and her experience with three failed weddings, she now views herself as the bad luck bridesmaid. I was able to understand her wish to avoid being tied down by marriage, but when it cost her the relationship of her dreams, it was frustrating for me to read. Zoey’s inner monologue got a bit repetitive at times, and a huge part of me just wanted to reach into the pages and shake her.
More importantly, what really kept me invested in this story was her relationships with her female friends. She is a great friend and has surrounded herself with great women, and I loved to see how they interacted with each other. It’s very much a girl power story, and Greenberg did a great job of writing well-rounded characters with amazing strengths and devastating flaws.
While I didn’t necessarily agree with Zoey’s decisions throughout the story, I found her to be a very relatable character. And I couldn’t help but laugh at her insistence that an Irish potato pancake (boxty) was indeed a latke. This is such a funny story, full of human nature and individual struggles that the characters get through with the help of their friends, that I couldn’t help but enjoy it.

This was a fun and fast read! It was cute, very Hallmark-esk. I loved the funny moments, and growth our FMC goes through. This is a great book to read if you're in a slump!

Alright this book is out tomorrow and please preorder or run to the bookstore to grab it, I finished this book in a day. I absolutely loved it!
Meet Zoey Marks she believes she’s a cursed bridesmaid. The last three friends who asked her to be their bridesmaid never made it down the aisle. When she meets her dream man in Rylan she believes everything is looking up. When Rylan proposes she rejects him she doesn’t know if she ever wants to be married can’t they just be happy but without the marriage? While nursing her broken heart Zoey’s best friend Hannah calls her and tells her that she’s getting married in Ireland and his names Graham they met on a plane, and wants Zoey to be her bridesmaid! The only issue Zoey also happens to be Rylans cousin so he will be there! Zoey is hoping this time will be different, and then she can win Rylan back, the only catch he’s bringing a plus one! Zoey meets Rylans plus one Mara who appears to be perfect and soon it appears Graham’s brother Ezra wants to tamper with the wedding, I mean Graham has only known Hannah for six months. With her hands full Zoey begins to see love in a different light maybe forever isn’t so bad? I truly enjoyed this book the characters were fun and loved how strong and independent and that just added to the story five stars!!

After being a bridesmaid at 3 of her friend’s weddings, where none of them ended up actually getting married, Zoey has a negative view towards marriage & turns down her boyfriend Rylan’s proposal. 3 months later, she is asked to be a bridesmaid at her best friend Hannah’s wedding, where Rylan will be in attendance as he is Hannah’s cousin.
This book reminded me of champagne problems by Taylor Swift (also loved all the Taylor Swift references in the book)!
This book started off really strong & I really enjoyed it, but it went a little downhill in the second half. I really hated how Rylan was treating Zoey and I was getting annoyed with Zoey at certain parts of the book, she was definitely selfish & a bad friend to Hannah at points! It got better by the end though. Overall, I was invested & wanted to know what happened next! I also enjoyed the author’s writing style!
thank you to St. Martin’s Press for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Loved the overarching story but the author was so long-winded I got bored. The story would have been great without the 5 pages overview of each interaction, backstory, or side plot.
Good if you don't mind a ton of fluff. Also the romance was sad and was more of a women empowering herself. Which I love, except the main character basically hates herself for 90% of the book and in the last 4 pages finds peace with her unlovable sides.

4.5⭐️ Zoey Marks is skeptical about marriage. She wants to wake up every day and choose to be with someone; she doesn’t need a marriage telling her this. After meeting the perfect man and him getting down on one knee, they are both left heartbroken.
I really loved this unconventional love story. The “bad luck bridesmaid” aspect was super fun. All three times that Zoey has been a bridesmaid, the bride didn’t make it down the aisle. I really appreciated Zoey’s free spirit. She stood up for what she wanted and didn’t bend to fit someone else’s mold. Zoey grew exponentially from the beginning to the end, and she stayed true to herself in order to find her own happiness.
I loved the writing — it felt like the words were flying off the pages as I read. Bad Luck Bridesmaid is a quick, witty, unconventional love story full of heart.
