I must say I figured part of this out more quickly than he did.

Another good Hillerman novel. I've been slowly working my way through and loving these. I'm attached to Leaphorn, so I missed him a bit here, but I'm excited for when he and Chee are together later in the series.

The first book in the series to feature Jim Chee, this was an enjoyable audio that wove Navajo mythology into an engaging mystery plot. The audio narration was masterfully handled by George Guidall.

Rereading several years letter with a new eye for some things...Mary Landon is a total B, but other than that, of course I adore Chee.

I read a bunch of these books back in the 80s. This one holds up pretty well, though when you see these older books through a modern lens, it's pretty obvious how things have changed, and that some stuff wouldn't work now. There are lots more security cameras, and, of course, cell phones.

But it's still enjoyable.

Reading it to join in with the mystery book club.
