Still as addicting as the first book in this series, but I felt that the pacing was a bit slower. Connections are getting more intense which I loved. I also felt like we were getting a bit deeper regarding the layers the characters have and reasoning for some (questionable) actions. The ending was crazy and I'm glad I could dive into the next one.

As with ZA it feels like the authors are really stretching Darkmore out. it makes it so that the books become repetitive and even though theyโ€™re fast reads; the story becomes a slog to get through and less enjoyable.

the other thing that has become SUPER noticeable is that the characters are recycled in each series. Ryder is Darius is Cain. Leon is Seth is Sin. Gabriel is Caleb is Roary. Dante is Max is Ethan. they barely even deviate from Washer to Plunger, even in name.

this also leads to the characters being less enjoyable because the arcs are the same book after book. the funny bits feel less funny and more like the same damn joke told 800 times.

I enjoy the books overall but less so as the stories get more and more drug out and repetitive. that this was supposed to be a four book series and now is looking to be five is just reinforcing that.

Holy smokes this was good! The ENDING whaaaat.
I knew theyโ€™d need a certain personโ€™s cooperation to complete their plan. But there are TWO MORE BOOKS after this so I am likeโ€ฆ. They are going to be super wild. Fasten your seatbelts yโ€™all.

Ok when I got to this line โ€”> โ€œSin flew through the doors ahead of me with something yellow bundled in his arms, but I couldn't tell what it was as he disappeared into the fray.โ€ I KNEW we were in trouble. I was like aaaaah no. Ahhh no no no. NOT AGAIN. But yes, yes he didโ€” again!

I finished this and immediately downloaded the next in the series from KU

By the stars, Mason Cain can suck on my neck anytime he damn well pleases. "I'm done running from my problems."
