This book had everything I would like, but for some reason, I couldn't get into it.

Really enjoyed this one as a refreshing take on the amateur sleuth type story. There was one plot point I wish was delved into a bit more, but otherwise the story was unique and led me astray at some points (in a good way) for genuine surprise. Also, this book gave me major fomo for New Orleans and now I need to go back asap.

DNF. Made it halfway through before giving up. The characters are interesting but it moved so slowly. The author overly describes scenes, furniture, and other small details that don’t add anything to the story. The mystery part of the novel was not intriguing nor kept me wanting more.

Cozy-ish mystery set in New Orleans with a protagonist who connects to the Vodou spirit of water. Will continue the series!

The premise of this story seemed great, but it all fell flat for me. It seemed like every time something interesting was arising within the story it either summed up way too quickly and easily or it was just forgotten. The beginning and end of the book were somewhat interesting but the middle was boring and seemed to drag. I was hoping to like this book but I was left really disappointed.

Took awhile to get into it. A Voudoun priestess is a really great niche detective
