Alice Coldbreath really has the knack to write books that don’t look like they’re going to be that good and end up being absolutely awesome.
Issy is the type of character I love, because they grow into the story and gain self-confidence thanks to the hard-place they are in and that’s a type of female character I relate to a lot. Jorah was a typical alpha male, really thick in the head you know but he has a big heart.
I really liked the story overall with the pack and everything. I didn’t even mind the miscommunication because it was handled in a humorous way.
I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish there was more. I wish the book was longer, I wish there were more books on this world, about this couple or about other characters, like Jorah’s brother and his second or the three-way pairing.
Alice, if you see this, make it happen, I need more of this.

Medieval warlords werewolves and small comunities\castles set in old ways changed by loving, insecure, strong human protagonist.
Typical Colbreath's relationship with stubborn, cold alpha male (who falls hard for the h but grovels not so much) and resourceful and resilient heroine.
One of the funniest books by the author, but also not one to leave a strong and long-lasting impression

A historical romance...with wolf shifters. A bit of a slow starter, but once it gets going, it's a lot of fun. This is a pretty smooth read with no peril, very little drama, and the potion + self esteem issues is the big sticking point for the heroine while the hero refuses to mate despite what his wolf wants, making this a good read for when you want something sweet that won't cause too much tension.
It's always interesting to look back on older works from authors I currently enjoy. This book has a lot of editing and formatting issues—which I did not count against it due to the age—but I can see a lot of what has developed into Coldbreath's formula for historical romances: all of the elements are there to one degree or another.
