With asshole villagers threatening and slandering the protagonist—this book puts me in a foul mood... or maybe I was already there. Yeah, that's more likely. And then there's the overtly patriarchal, controlling vampire groom who needs to be staked.
The first 2 volumes in this series were really fun and light, which sometimes is what you feel like reading when you're depressed and grieving. I'm guessing volume 4 won't push my buttons like this.

The ending was pretty satisfying, but it would have been more so if Melchior were decapitated.
I also expected that verbally abusive Christofascist asshole Grace to apologize profusely after Alf helped save her children. She'd been threatening her, verbally abusing including outrageous false accusations and attacking her practice, and slandering her--and Alf is the batshit bully's landlady, too, so I wanted at least the threat of eviction.
