I was actually ready to really hate this book. And for the first part of it, I did! Especially when he talked about his Star Trek co-stars and how much they apparently hate him. So much unnecessary bitterness in a book about life rules. But once he got past that, it was actually really lovely, a great look into the many roles and jobs he has taken over the years. I much prefer Bill over William Shatner, the nice guy who trains horses and always says "yes" to every thing. And I guess I'll actually have to listen to my Shatner records now!

More like a 3.5. I wish we could rate half points.

I didn't expect this to be a five star book but, well, there you go. It's everything I would want in a Shatner book: it's genuinely funny throughout, draws attention to the Shatner persona (which turns criticism into part of the fun), and shares interesting bits about some of his more popular projects.

I'm a big fan of his cover of 'Common People' so it was fun to read about that. The book does lean more towards entertainment/comedy than actual biography but there are moments where the Shatner character steps aside so the actual Bill can speak. And the book doesn't hide the fact that it was co-written by a comedy writer named Chris Regan, which most likely brought some of that final polish to the finished product.

And one compliment I can give is that I found myself pulling up youtube to look up moments he describes in the book. Very interesting. If you're a fan of anything William Shatner has done, give this book a try.

I have a special place in my heart for William Shatner. Excellent book. Has very little overlap with his previous book. This book has more of a humorous tone to it. Shatner's narration in the audiobook is a must listen.

I love William Shatner. He's just so funny. The fact that he laughs at himself a bit? Best thing ever.

I actually read this one before I read his other books, but that's okay, this one is probably the funniest, even though it's less of a cohesive narrative. I might not have read the other ones if not for this one.

Highly recommend, particularly for anyone who dislikes Shatner. It's a whole new world now that he finds his own ego humorous, a very, very funny one.

I can't say a whole lot about this book, but I will say that a.) I got it as an audio book, and b.) that I have my own copy. I found this book to be poignant and, obviously, hilarious. It's not his autobiography, but he touches on so much of his life in this book, and I thought that was pretty fantastic. I'm so glad he read his own book, though there were times when he mumbled a little.

I really had no expectations, though I at least hoped it would be funny, and I had my hope in the right place.

And I can't believe he's 80. Well, 81 now. Gracious. This was such a fun read.

Listening to this in the car, narrated by the man himself.

This was a lot of fun to listen to. Full of humor but also a few insightful moments.
