this book wasn’t really my favorite. and i feel bad saying that because there were parts that i enjoyed but i had a hard time getting through this book. it was just so boring for me. the format wasn’t really my thing and occasionally it got a little confusing. it’s supposed to be very satirical, and while i did get that vibe, it just didn’t really work for me. but i did like bernadette a lot. overall, i think this is a book that some people will really enjoy, but i just wasn’t one of those people.

This is a great selection for a book club. It reads quickly, but has a lot of opportunities to talk about parenting, marriage, mental health, and other issues. I read it within 24 hours. The only thing I didn't like was the ending seemed a bit idealistic, and some of the issues didn't seem fully resolved. I'm hoping for a sequel!

I was surprised at quickly I read this book. The last book I read that was written in a similar fashion took some time to get through. I did enjoy reading this book and the little bit of a mystery thrown in with the main character.

Loved these characters, loved that no one was entirely “bad” or “good” — everyone had gray area which made them feel real. I was rooting for everyone, even those who I thought I never would.

Fantastic.

I really liked this book. The format is different and the cheating spouse part left me grating me teeth at night but I love B and Bernadette is me!

Very funny!

I loved the format of the book. Most of it was through email/writing exchanges and other media instead of typical narration. The whole thing is designed as the book the main character wrote about finding her mother. A lot of the plot twists and explanations for all of the characters actions and motivations were explained well. I did enjoy that since all the correspondence was written by each of the characters themselves, we got their own POV and personality. I hated Audrey in the beginning but seeing her own change was more entertaining through her emails and faxes. Hated the admin by the end though. Overall good story and makes me want to watch the move adaptation.
