Pace was a little slow and the book was long but it wrapped up the story well and kept me interested

On to book 3 for me! I really loved seeing Oraya come into her powers and make Raine crawl back after what happened in the first book. While there was much more political intrigue that wasn't my favorite, I enjoyed the overall story.

I am definitely a Carissa Broadbent FAN after reading the first two books in this series.
I think the first book kept my interest a teeny bit more but this one was still SO GOOD.
I also like that the author is writing the series in duets. This was the last book focused on Raihn and Oraya and the next book with switch to a new main character (EEEK I am so excited for the next one!!)
TLDR; this is a damn good series and you should read it

Wow. I truly don’t know what to say. This book gave me all the feels.
I absolutely love Oraya and Raihn. The author did a phenomenal job portraying the dynamics and conflict between them. After everything that happened in the previous book—especially Raihn taking over Oraya’s kingdom—the tension and emotional complexity were palpable. This book was filled with power, determination, fierce love, and unwavering loyalty. The struggle between Oraya’s love for Raihn and the reality of who he appeared to be versus who he truly was in his heart was written so beautifully.
Spoiler Alert
One of the most powerful moments for me was when Oraya went to find the god blood near the end of the book and was confronted with memories of her father, Vincent. Seeing his regrets, love, shame, and power brought me to tears. It was incredibly satisfying to finally see these deeper parts of him that were kept hidden in the first book. It revealed how much he truly loved his daughter, even if he couldn’t express it the way she needed. In contrast, seeing Raihn step up to fill those gaps in Oraya’s life made my heart ache in the best way.
I also loved all the other characters and can’t wait to see where the story goes next. This book was an emotional rollercoaster, and I enjoyed every moment of it.
