I started reading it as a joke honestly because one of my fav vtubers recommended it and... SHE WASN'T WRONG ITS A DECENT BOOK LMAO
Really nice world building, characters are like from typical i would say romance book yeah but the diverse of all imaginable "monsters" living among humans even showing the clashes and ugly parts... yeah pleasantly surprised at this fantasy kept realistically?? but yeah be wary that yep it is erotic book lmao but as an asexual person I could handle it so many ppl can easily 😂 have a good read!

Not bad; in my opinion, it was not as racy as people talking about it made it seem. Actually a pretty sweet story and relationship. I found myself more interested in Violet's journey putting her life in order, as well as the (surprisingly large amount of) worldbuilding, than in the spicy scenes. The emotional side of their relationship was very nicely depicted too.

I have a few relatively minor gripes. I noticed a good few typos in the ebook version. Also, the author liberally uses flashbacks and I was often confused about whether something was happening in the present or in a flashback.

But overall, it was a decent book and an interesting premise/world. It's set up for a lot of potential variety in the couples, so I could see myself coming back.

Also, for those who don't like miscommunication tropes or  break ups:
neither of those happens in this book.

Definitely not the type of book I gravitate toward, but Booktok got me *shrug*

It was honestly really wholesome during the non graphic scenes!

I'm giving this strong points for creativity with the characters and world in the romance/erotica genres, even though the story itself is predictable (the mark of most romance anyway). Very much porn with plot, so if that's not your bag, don't bother.

Whenever a book features interspecies relationships, it can easily seem like a metaphor for interracial relationships in real life, and this is no exception. It has some mention of issues between humans and other species, but the issue is not deeply explored, as you might imagine given the genre. Additionally, because the story mostly glosses over the depth of majority-minority struggles, the presence of interspecies sex and relationships feels a little like fetishizing.

There were a few editing mistakes in the audiobook and a few moments where the story jumped forward in confusing ways.
