An amazing read. It was an astonishing commentary on the patriarchal society that runs this twisted world. The main character isn't loveable but that is her purpose. She has internalized misogyny and questionable morals but that goes further to point out the damages of overly sexualising women. Truly amazing but if someone tells you that this book is their favourite because they love the main character and that world, run as fast as you can because that flag is as red as it can be. Have fun reading<3

This was the first book I read for school that I would read on my own. It is emotional, thought-provoking, and deeply powerful. Incredible societal commentary, especially after Trump and the attempted coup on January 6th.

The Handmaid's tale is such a wonderfully dark and gritty, almost dystopian novel. Considering its publication over 3 decades ago, it is surprisingly easy to read and flows with such emotion.

The system of Gilead within the book is so brutal and cruel yet it highlighted the true capabilities of man. What man can do to one another, and just how dangerous and misogyny can be.

There are so many other reviewers who could word their feelings about this book with much more eloquence than I'm capable of, but if I had to leave this review with one closing thought I would tell you that this book will change your life. It will make you think and question and ponder so many different things and appreciate the lives and freedom we are able to live in this bustling modern era. How lucky we are and how we need to remember this fact.

I adored reading this book so much for my A-Level English! There were vast amounts of hidden themes and topics, alongside the very graphic obvious ones. Atwood somehow managed to write a book that is still relevant 36 years after it's first publication and still just as much food-for-thought.
