maggie nelson in short form but maggie nelson all the same

Having never read Maggie Nelson before, I feel almost guilty for choosing the most sensationalist title first. But this book is luminous and evocative, while still unsparing about the horrific violence of the Michigan Murders.

Will read more Nelson, soon.

Nelson is quickly becoming one of my favorite poets.

Jane is an incredible collection. Nelson works through the murder of her aunt through a series of poems, prose, newspaper articles, snippets of Jane's journals, and other fragments that create a beautiful tribute and memoir.

beautifully written and powerfully pieced together to tell a compelling tale about maggie nelson's aunt, her life, and her murder. this is my first nelson book, and i'm excited to read more of her work in the future
challenging dark sad tense slow-paced

really ties into a class im taking rn on death and dying in antiquity

the idea of the dead young woman as the ideal of poetic melancholy - a very particular form of misogyny
