DID NOT FINISH: 13%

Putting this one on hold to read for Christmas 2024 (page 37). Running out of time this year and just not in the mood for this right now; best to wait and savor it next season. Started on audio - not ideal. Read digital or physical version.

I unfortunately did not read the first book that went with this so with it jumping right into it. It was a bit challenging for me to know who everyone was and what was going on.

Besides that, I still enjoyed the book. The banter was to my liking. I love plot twists in a book and there were definitely a few. I would like to go back and read the first then read this again to tie it together.

Thank you, Netgalley for the EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts.

A lovely Christmassy read with a great cast of characters. I did on occasion want to bang their heads together and tell them to just talk to each other, but that would have done away with half the plot.

I usually love Jenny Colgan and read any of her books that I can get my hands on, but this one left me confused and a bit annoyed. I don’t get the ages of the children for one thing. In the first book they are described to be quite young and scared of a muppets film. In the this book (taking place a year later) Pippa is suddenly 12, Jack is even older apparently, but they still enjoy toys made of plastic and the narrator made them sound like little kids.

For another thing, the whole Oke thing was very contrived to me.
