I liked it - fun start to the series. Though I expected the twist at the end... not sure why, or what prompted me to "go there", but it certainly didn't diminish it for me.

It's a weird experience reading this immediately after gobbling down the Kara Gillian series, as there are definitely similarities. But this book and world is definitely unique enough that it totally captured my interest.

a little disjointed plot wise as I feel like there was too much going on with not enough connection between all of the separate plot lines. the characters seemed a little flat but they were interesting after their introduction. I found the romance a little boring. despite all of that, I found myself able to immerse myself in the novel.

A well-written and solidly plotted mystery/fantasy/romance, with bartender/daughter of purportedly serial killer parents Arcadia Bell on the search for evidence that will exonerate mom and dad. If she can't find it in two weeks, she'll have to give herself up in her parents' place. The fantasy here is demon-based, with human magicians having the power to summon some of them, while others live on earth permanently (the "Earthbound"). Arcadia is purportedly human, although her parents did conduct some pretty strange sex rituals while they conceived her. A May/December romance with a demon single father (he's 42 to her 25) makes for pleasant, if not overwhelmingly sexy or emotionally draining romance. My one caveat: Cady's ethics seem rather questionable. Using her powers in her bar to bind drunks who get out of hand seems like one thing; drugging them in advance without their knowledge to prevent drunken rages is another. Cady and her lover, Lon, both seem all too ready to impose their magical, demonic, or gun-based will on others, even if many of those others have somewhat sketchy morals themselves. Will be interesting to see where the series goes re ethnics/morals and their relation to power, given this initial book's dramatic ending...

I Did like it... a very interesting world, I would have liked to have a bit more explained to me... I seemed to get a lot of information all at once making it hard to picture and understand.....

The story revolves around Arcadia, who's parents are so called Notorious murderers, Arcadia is against the clock to try and prove their innocence....

Teaming up With Lon and befriending him and his son Jupe i got to read the beginnings of a strong relationship with the father son duo.

I will eventually get to book two but not niggling at me to read straight away... The ending of this book was brilliant and unexpected that's the part that will make me read on, because at that point I felt the book truly found its legs and a story was starting to emerge, and we get a glimpse at Moon child and what she could be capable of....

I wanted to like this more, but the characters and worlds just didn't seem real enough to grab onto. Some interesting ideas here--just not a book I couldn't put down. It took me several tries to finish it.

although I figured out who the bad guys were pretty early on i thoroughly enjoyed this. I love the relationship between cady and lon, it feels alot different than all the other UF/PNR books out there. Lon's an older guy and that makes me like him even more, I've grown terribly tired of the same old cocky arseholes with their alpha male macho bullshit plus I kinda like a tache on a man :-)
I will be straight onto the next

I can not tell a lie (well, actually I can but that's a whole other story) but I know someone who knows someone and I actually received a copy of this book almost two years ago. Since that very first read, and the many many others after that, I have absolutely loved this story. I loved the introduction to Arcadia (Cady) the strong, smart, sexy, and spunky heroine. I've adorded Lon, the silent, strong, supportive, and very very sexy hero. Even though he doesn't say much, you can feel what he feels and when he does open up to Cady, the smile that splits my face I swear is just as big as I imagine Cady's is. Some readers may be a little thrown off by the May/December romance between these two but I don't know if I would love Lon's character as much if his son, Jupe, wasn't in the picture. And to have a 13 year old son, you need to be older than the heroine. Jupe offers a lot of humor into the story and gives such a wonderful view into Lon's heart when you see their interactions. After reading the published version of this story, there were only some minor changes from the copy I've read and adored these past few years, these changes only helped to make this story more crisp and even more enjoyable. I'm so excited for what comes next because I can't wait to see how Cady, Lon, and Jupe grow together. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a smart read with action, romance, and some magik.

I read this book a few years ago and I'm going to do a mini review for two reasons. Firstly I don't remember a great deal about the details of the book now. Secondly, I didn't get far into the book when I did read it before deciding that it wasn't my thing.

I loved the cover and that was what got me looking at the book in the first place. I was hoping for something totally different and I liked the plot about her parents and getting help from a demon to save them. But. It was the same character you get in so many of these urban fantasy and paranormal romance novels. Yes it was the attractive supernatural creature with sexual charisma, lewd comments and a desire to have sex with the MC which is mentioned as many times as the author can fit it in. I find this so boring in urban fantasy. Do we always have to have the love plot instead of just a great demon/human friendship plot?

Faced with a book full of sexual innuendo, and the plot stopping so the MC and lover boy can flirt some more when she is supposed to be trying to save her parents, I decided not to continue reading it.
