Murder grows out of a list of stolen items given to Hercule Poirot at the start of this late-career (both for Poirot and Christie) case set in an international student hostel. I like the clues embedded in the list of stolen goods Poirot initially investigates and then how they variously relate to the murder which ensues. While I don't think this is top-shelf Christie (the denouement, for one thing, isn't that satisfying), I did enjoy the way she handled a rather large cast of international characters (some of them, yes, bordering on pastiche) and shifted point of view frequently.

I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Very very interesting to see how different books of this era are from early books in Aggie’s career. What a phenomenal cast of characters!

I had been in a bit of a reading slump, but count on Poirot to get me out of it. This started out innocent enough, a group of college students have a few things disappearing from their hostel. But one of the students is murdered after confessing to the thefts, and it is left to Poirot to figure out who did it and why. It had a pretty satisfying ending in my opinion, definitely a solid entry to the classic series.
