I bought this book years ago because I liked the cover. After finally getting around to reading the only thing I am disappointed in is that it sat unread for so long.

I really enjoyed how Robbie never truly investigated the murder. That she simply went about her business and things just happened to appear.

I look forward to reading the next in the series.

This was a fun cozy mystery set in southern Indiana. The main character, Robbie Jordan, decides to renovate and reopen a small country store/restaurant and runs into trouble when the mayor's assistant winds up dead. Enjoyed the characters in this one and will look for the next.

This is my first book encountering this author and this series. I love any cosy mystery that is food-related!! So this was right up my street! I really liked the premise of the book and there was lots of different characters with lots of different suspects, and clues. However, it took me a while to get into the book because within the first couple of chapters I felt like I had missed something?? Like I had missed a one of the books in the series because it plunks you into 3 years after the main character's move to the town rather than the beginning? Which is kind of how the plot has set us up? I think the narrator of the audio book I listened to was possibly a bit too old for this particular role. She had a great albeit mature voice. And how the main character is written to me is a slightly unbelievable 27-year-old.  And the mature voice added to this. So when we were reminded that she's only 27 I  would become confused haha! Because she's written as an as someone who's a bit older. I did power through and I did quite like the book and the narrator does do some nice variations of accents and characters. I will give the second one a try but im a bit tentative about it. However, all in all another nice cosy mystery, i quite liked it and looking forward to seeing how the second book is.

I like Maddie Day’s other series but this one did not work for me.

This is an entertaining opener to what looks to be a promising series. The author has created a fun Midwestern town, full of personality and down home charm. Robbie and her friends are a warm, likable lot. You can feel the loving rapport between them. Although the plot gets far-fetched (par for the course in a cozy), there was enough going on to keep me reading. The mystery is straightforward and the killer is pretty obvious, but I didn't care too much. On the whole, FLIPPED FOR MURDER is an enjoyable novel. Not only do I plan to continue on with the series, but I already have the next installment checked out from the library!
