I absolutely love the friendship they built, and little moments of tension throughout the book. This was definitely worth the read.

DNF 78% ugh I tried to finish I really did because Chase was so cute and caring & great with communication, but Bailey was deadass so boring. And even all the surrounding friendships like Shiv and Dallas were boring to me too. It’s like Bailey and Shiv only were friends because they were dating friends, but then their friendship never evolved I swear. Bailey is just so dry. I need more banter not all this weird shy shit once they started dating. She seemed fun in the beginning but quickly became lackluster.

Spoiler summary:
Bailey is dating a boy named Luke, who breaks up with her after he gets the news that he might be set to join the NHL. Chase Carter is on the rival team of her ex-boyfriend Luke, and her brother, so she hates him off the bat. He runs into her at the bar and she gets really drunk and he brings her home to take care of her. Her roommates, who are dating Luke’s teammates, start being weird to her, and Luke quickly starts dating another girl, and they become friends with her which she is hurt by because there was probably overlap. After her game, Chase says she’s alone and pretends that they’re going home together to make Luke jealous. He then suddenly just starts forcing her to hang out with him because he likes her. He even pretended he needed help with school work. There is a sub plot that she’s a journalist and Has to write for games but it’s kind of messy and boring like it doesn’t really matter to the story. Honestly, I don’t even remember majority of it because I was bored half the time. Chase secretly pays Bailey’s brother to help her parents mortgage because they’re about to lose the house. Which I swear she didn’t even say thank you for she just like was quiet like hello. Probably will never finish this book.

Parts I did enjoy:

He kisses her so that her ex and friends can see through the window since they were spying

He envisions it’s her ex he’s playing against so that he can play better if he’s angry

Pretended he needed help with his essay so he can have a reason to see her

Admits he likes her to his friends easily

He turned down a threesome before they even kissed for real or acknowledged feelings

Before they had even done anything, he has a sincere conversation with her about how she views sex since she believes she’s broken and can’t come. And he even says he wants to buy her a toy so she can get comfortable with herself before she’s with him
