One of the better hockey romances I’ve read. Chase Carter is a man whore turned best boyfriend all while getting Bailey to be more confident and trusting while dealing with a bad ex boyfriend.

I liked this overall, but I did have my gripes. The main one being how much I liked the FMC... until we are told over and over just how not like other girls she is. Every time I wanted to lob this book across the room, I hate it. She is beautiful, thin, blonde and happens to *checks notes* be remotely smart, be interested in sports, and (gasp) play video games. Wow. Sounds like a stereotypical hot girl with, I dunno, a hobby?
The other main thing that knocked off quite a lot of enjoyment, especially towards the end, was the excessive number of plot points/devices being added tot his story. There was her relationship with her brother, her relationship with her friends, her relationship with Luke, Luke'sstalking , the video, her internship, her scholarship, her taking over this job at the paper, his past flings, the enmity between teams, his drafting, her parents financial situation... there was probably more but it was just too much.
A few things for tension? Sure, but this felt endless and confusing, at one point I wondered to myself if everything had been resolved or was there more things I was just forgetting about? Not to mention some seemed pointless to add, eg. Her brother and the friend, or her parents financials, or the group messages etc excluding her brother. Was he made aware? What was going on? What point did her parents financial situation actuall serve in this plot? It was convoluted and could have used some tightening up IMHO, pick fewer things to focus on better.
Overall it was good, I wouldn't reread though.

Maybe I'm too quick with the DNF, but I just did not connect with this. I didn't really like the FMC, or the brother for that matter. Maybe there is a reason some of these books have been on my TBR for so long.
