OK I know I said The Coworker would be my last McFadden but I had forgotten about having this on hold and when it came in I was just like, eh. Why not? That's the thing with these books- they're like popcorn. If you want something to play into your ears while you zone out then there's nothing better. I'm not above that. I'm not above these, it turns out.

I had the twist figured out pretty early on, minus some bonkers details. The POV character was marginally more interesting/likeable than the others she's written, but god her decision making was brutally terrible. Man.

Also, the theory I posited from my last read? Still checks out.

Freida always throws you for a loop but the diverse plot of this one, is phenomenal. Like all of her reads, you start and can't put it down. Be ready for the twists and turns, Freida is taking you for a ride.

it could’ve been an easy 5 stars if it wasn’t for the big reveal. it felt rushed and uninspired.

other than that, the plot overall was good and kept me in suspense. lots of red herrings that kept me guessing. I just can’t get over that big real.

very fast past interesting and page tuner fell like it’s got me out my reading slump read it all in a day very fast

i liked the split narrative and the style of writing

the only thing i don’t like is that this books story line feels very similar to “ serial killers daughter “ the plot is exactly the same serial killers daughter were set up to think it’s her then it’s a murder evil secret sister feels like a very overly played out plot narrative i think a good plot twist would have been if the killer was secretly majorie getting revenge for the childhood incident set her self up for such a good plot tie and didn’t take it

So…. I’m not sure what I want to say about this novel. I like the novel, it was a quick read and I enjoyed the roundabout storyline. I think my main issue with this book, is I’m not sure I can see something so farfetched happening in real life. Not the kidnapping and killing, that happens more than most would like to admit, however the set up and final storyline/twist (without giving details), I’m not sure would be so out there in real life.

I know this is fiction and why am I basing this on real life?? I like basing murder mysteries on real life, only because they are one of the biggest shocks when you hear about them on the news. If I cannot be shocked by the newscast of serial killer, a fictional book will most likely not surprise/shock/entice me in any way.
