This wasn’t bad in any way, but none of the stories truly gripped my attention and I just found myself not caring to get to it.

Too much poetry (personal dislike).

3,5. Některý povídky jsou lepší, některé horší. (Půl bodu navíc za audio, Gaiman se dobře poslouchá)

I'm actually being kind (out of guilt, mostly) by giving this book 3 stars. I should give it 2 and a 1/2.

I really wanted to enjoy this book but I found the stories a bit underwhelming. The only story I liked was the one with the Holy Grail, and that too I would describe as sweet and funny rather than spooky. Maybe I was undone by my expectations of this book - I thought the stories would be scary, but they were at best vaguely intriguing. The ideas for most were good, the stories did hook me at the beginning, but they never really took off.

I should confess that I did not read the poems - it was a mood thing, nothing to do with the quality of the poems.

Not as good as I thought it would be.

It should be said that I enjoy reading collections of stories by a specific author more than any other type of book. It's a tasting menu as opposed to a large, overfilling meal that, 9 times out of 10, I won't enjoy near as much as something short and savory.

After reading this, I wish Mr Gaiman had more than two collections.

The stories are neat. Some of them weren't as appealing as others, but even then the ideas behind them were fascinating.

I couldn't give a real favorite, because they were all very different. The stories based on fable and fairy tales were amazing, mostly because I've always been a fan of retold fairy stories.

Truly enjoyable, and a quick read.

Some gems in here but overall it was OK. I don't love the short story format so struggled to engage.
