Ok so absolutely 5/5 to the cast and crew of the audiobook because hot dang they did amazing!!! I was struggling to get through reading this because I wasn’t finding the writing very moving and also the book is so damn large that I couldn’t carry it around to read while walking. But this cast and crew really makes the story come to life. The voices and music/sound effects are excellent! While the plot is predictable and SJM uses the gut punch method
killing your favorite character
to garner sympathy for our FMC, I still have been enjoying this story well enough. I’m still not so sure how I feel about how the fey + high tech setting was executed. Tbh most of my rating for this story goes to the talented cast and crew for the audiobook and also the chimera who I love. Onto part two!

The Graphic Audio production is well done. Enjoyed the cast and sound effects.

It's pretty good, not great. I enjoyed it and am disappointed my library doesn't have Part 2. I'm growing to like the characters quite a bit - they're lovable even if fairly simple. The romantic interest is believable and not shallow. I'm not really cringing at all like I did in some of the later ACOTAR books.

It doesn't really get into the magic system, which I would have preferred, but there are some interesting features (a fire sprite, the Drop, etc.).

This GraphicAudio is well done - good character voices, good sound effects, music mostly when it makes sense (not just randomly for atmosphere, which I find annoying).

My summary: Bryce Quinlan is a half-fae half-human party girl living in Crescent City. Her roommate and best friend since college is Danika Fendyr, a powerful wolf shifter that will someday lead her pack. The two are inseparable, as well as with Danika’s pack, until gruesome murders occur that rock Bryce’s world to her core. Two years later, when another similar murder occurs, Bryce finds herself pulled into the investigation to try to find the killer and avenge the deaths of those closest to her. Bryce is saddled with Hunt Athalar, the Shadow of Death, a fallen angel and a slave to the Archangels, in the investigation. In a world ruled by the Asteri and governed by the Archangels, the constant war between the Vanir and the humans set a backdrop of Bryce and Hunt trying to save Crescent City in their quest for vengeance.
My thoughts: If you’ve never listened to a dramatized audiobook, then you are missing out! The dramatized version is pretty fun. It has a full cast, sound effects and music. I enjoyed all of the narrators and I thought the main narrator was great. I have already read the book, so listening to the audiobook—especially the dramatized audio—was really enjoyable. Listening to an audiobook after reading the book is my favorite way to pick up details and foreshadowing during a re-read, and the dramatized version made it even better. I did have to wait awhile for it to be available on Libby to get it, but Part 2 isn’t available until April 29 so now is a great time to listen to Part 1.

I borrowed this on Libby, and the cast did a FANTASTIC job. This is my first read of Crescent City, and my only regret is not waiting for part two and binging them both together. I'll have to continue the book without audio, but I'm coming back for part 2 when it drops!

The graphic audio finishes at the end of chapter 40.
