Eventually, after the narrator is all grown in Japan, he moves back to the land he heard about in his grandfather's stories: America. But, he, too, grows homesick for Japan. I loved this book. The illustrations were evocative and sensitively done, and the text was deceptively simple. One for the permanent collection.
