I really enjoyed this e-book. Rhys has many struggles. He pouts. He whines and in the end it is a good woman that saves the day.

Just finished the audiobook. So much more dramatic than when I read it in my head.

I am a huge fan of Donna Grant. I started reading her book a little over a year ago and every single book I have read so far got me hooked into the story.

I started reading this book in bed at around 9pm and I tell you it was a bad (good) idea because I ended up staying up late reading it just because I couldn't (and didn't want to) put it down.

I LOVE Night's Blaze and I love the entire series so far. I highly recommend this series and any other series by Donna Grant.

I didn't love or hate this book. It was just kind of meeeh.

I was not a huge fan of Lily. She was extremely naive. She is being blackmailed into letting someone get on to Dreagan. She knows nothing about what Dreagan is. All she knows is that they make whiskey. She assumes that this guy wants to steal art and that its no big deal because they will have insurance at Dreagan. Yeah. That's just dumb. I don't know if someone would go through all the trouble Dustin went through to get art. (but then again I don't know art.. so maybe they would.) No thats not what my real problem with her was. It was that she didn't tell anyone. This always drives me crazy in books. Everything could have been so much easier if she would have just said she was being blackmailed. They could have had longer to come up with a better plan. I don't know. It just irritates me when the main character lies the whole book.

Rhys was... well he wasn't anything really. He was sweet to Lily and he was already in love with her when the book started so it was just him saying he wasn't good enough for her. So he stayed away for as long as he could... also kind of annoying.

Okay so plot wise, it was pretty good. Well okay let me rephrase: We find out one major thing that changes everything! Obviously I am not going to say what that is but my mind was blown. Then that ending was also pretty good and a total shock. What the hell Kyle? What the hell? That is the one and only time I felt bad for Lily. Kyle was a dick... so was Dustin. She had some bad male figures in her life.

I won't lie and say that I was totally into this book, I wasn't. I got a little bored but I am glad I read it and I am glad I can move on to the next one.

3.5 stars only because the end was freakin' nuts and once things got going, it was definitely engaging.

A lot of the books in this series seem to start off pretty slow and then around half way thru, really pick up. This one most definitely. I was kind of looking forward to Rhys' story and learning about what happened in Lily's past. And it wasn't nearly as exciting as I was hoping. With Rhys having lost his ability to shift, his personality had also changed a lot and he just wasn't the fun, happy go lucky guy he used to be. Which was sad because that was what I liked about him. But hopefully we'll be getting that back going forward now that things ended well for him.

We begin with Rhys having a hard time of things what with not being able to help his fellow kings the way he should be able to any more. So he's gone off on his own to figure things out and also to avoid Lily. But Rhi shows up and talks some sense into him so he finally goes home. Making pretty much everybody happy, but most especially Lily. The two of them slowly get a little closer but then Lily's past catches up to her. When her insanely abusive ex-boyfriend shows up and threatens her family if she doesn't help him onto Dreagan land, she feels powerless to go against him. At first. If nothing else, her time with Rhys has allowed her to find her old self again and get stronger. Though she still can't seem to find a way to go against her ex despite wanting nothing more than to do so.

Thanks to Henry doing something none of the Kings would have ever wanted him to do, he manages to find out part of the plan that their enemy is going to try in order to find the hidden weapon: use a Dreagan employee to get an enemy onto the grounds without being caught. Time and again Henry proves himself and his value to the Kings even though he's only human and this time he simply went above and beyond especially with what ends up happening to him. And while I like the guy, I think this thing he's got going on with Rhi needs to stop. She needs to eventually end up back with her King damn it...if we ever find out who it even is.

Lily's internal battle of doing what her ex wants and doing what she wants is taken out of her hands when she is found out. But things are not at all what they seem and when she finds out what's really going on, she actually takes it rather well. And she plays her part in the plan the best she can. Unfortunately things sort of backfire and something goes horribly wrong. But only for a time.
SpoilerI had a feeling that Ulrik would somehow bring her back to life. There was just no way that Rhys would find his mate only to have her actually die in this book. So I knew it was going to happen, just didn't quite know how...
And something very good comes out of it.
SpoilerWhen I finished the last book, I had really been hoping that Rhys would somehow get his dragon back. And he did...though I'm still not sure exactly how he broke that curse. Would fury and despair really be enough?

With how it ended I can't help but wonder what the heck Rhi is thinking. Why oh why would she go to him?? I thought she was doing a bit better in this book but perhaps she's just getting better at hiding the dark that's trying to come to the surface. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. Oh, but maybe we also got a clue as to who her King is there at the end...at least to me it seemed a bit suspicious when they saw each other.

The biggest shock of this series came a little more than half way thru this book when we find out who the Kings' enemy really truly is. And here I was thinking it was definitely Ulrik...guess that would have simply been too predictable. With this revelation, it calls into question so many things that I had been thinking and that we have been told. It was a crazy twist that only means worse things to come for the Kings in the future.

Another great addition to the series! Picks right where the previous books left off and continues to leave you wanting more! Donna continues leaving the readers mystified with which Dragon King was Rhi's Lover and just when you think you've figured it out, bang... nope. BUT perhaps, we have finally had a clue! Well, at least Kelly, from Books-n-Kisses and I think we have an idea. Needless to say, we're going to corner Donna at the RT Convention and see if she'll give up the information because this is KILLING US!!!!!!

Rhys has been a yummy, I mean interesting character from the very beginning. Mysterious, yet made to be a playboy, but we knew there had to be more to him than that. In "Night's Blaze" we finally get the insight we've been searching for and we're not disappointed. He's very protective of those he loves and he is self sacrificing. There isn't anything he wouldn't do to protect Lily and what he does in "Night's Blaze" is epic.

I was impressed with Lily. She comes across as a delicate, dwindling flower, but she's not. She's got spunk and can hold her own! While she's soft spoken, she's extremely intelligent and has an inner strength that we don't know about until we learn her story! She was a great match for Rhys and their story was filled with action! She

The other thing I'm enjoying immensely about this series is the mix of Kings, Warriors, Druids, and Fae! They keep things interesting and with a genre where there are little surprises left, Donna keeps them coming!! There were a few of them in this book alone! Some you just had to book the eReader down and go 'WOW! Didn't see that coming' and in the case where you have friends reading the same book, I had Kelly messaging me "DID YOU FINISH reading the book?" Me: Yes, why? Kelly: WTF?!?!?! Did she really..... and I'm not going to share the rest of the conversation since it would be a spoiler but I'll leave you a hint... the ending.

Overall, a fantastic read. Great character development! The over arching story arc continues to expand, thrilling and intriguing the readers while the individual story lines of each character draws the readers in wanting more. New characters are introduced which only keep you guessing as to what's going to happen next and those in play leave you wondering what will become of them. I couldn't put this down!

Night's Blaze was a book I'd been waiting for. Rhys's character has built up through the first four books and we've seen how events have completely altered his life. I loved the carefree, fun character that he started out as and I've been totally devastated by what has happened to him. I was completely ready for his book.

We all knew Lily was hiding something. It was pretty obvious by the way she dressed and her withdrawn attitude. Seeing her blossom with the help of the other mates just made you smile. They gave her the confidence she needed to push the stuff she's been hiding from and start a new life. Not to let her past totally ruin the rest of her life. Problem is, it didn't take too long for all that stuff to come running back into her life.

That confidence Lily gained was what Rhys needed to bring himself out of his funk and gave him a light amongst his problems. Unfortunately, they still had their secrets that they kept from each other. The secrets actually connected them more than they knew and they would have to work together.

I was so wound up with the action and the revelations that happened near the end. Shocking events and puzzling actions left me shaking my head wondering "what the hell just happened?!" It was definitely an emotional read. This was my favorite Dark Kings book so far! I can't wait for the next one!
