Lo amé muchísimo. No puedo creer lo mucho que me hizo reír este libro, no soy el tipo de lectora que se ríe en voz alta entonces siempre me maravillo con el libro que puede hacerme olvidar completamente dónde estoy y hacerme reír sin parar. Terminé Fresh con una sonrisa enorme que hasta ahora no me puedo sacar.
Elliot es un personaje súper complejo, no es una heroina que amas al 100% porque más de una vez me desperaron sus decisiones y actitudes pero ese es el punto de la vida ¿no? Equivocarnos y aprender, caernos y volvernos a levantar. Amé encontrar en Elliot un personaje que no hace las cosas bien al principio pero a lo largo de todo este libro la vemos aprendiendo y mejorando muchísimo. Las reflexiones sobre el amor, la amistad, la sexualidad, la vida y la juventud hicieron que éste fuera un libro precioso, difícil de olvidar.

Such an intense , tmi isn’t a thing, hot and flustered, crazy story! I have fallen in love with young adult reads.

while i appreciated the discussions surrounding trying to figure out what you want to do with your life, finding yourself, etc., i thought the writing was really, really poor. the tone was incredibly juvenile despite the mature subject matter, and it read like an older millennial trying to sound young and !hip! which had me cringing constantly. i hope i never see the words ‘tender chicken’ used as a euphemism ever again

Thank you Abrams for sharing Fresh by Margot Wood with me!
This took me back, well we will just say a few years! It was fun remembering all the funny and some crazy times from college. The book is about Elliot starting her freshman year in college but instead of buckling down and picking a major she is too busy dancing, going to parties and driving her RA crazy. Elliot was a delightful character to follow! She’s funny, sarcastic, and sometimes a complete mess! It was fun to follow along as she finds herself! She makes some mistakes along the way but everyone does. I really enjoyed Elliot as the main character and the footnotes just added to it!
Overall, Fresh was a fun, and hilarious read and I enjoyed every minute! The character building here is wonderful! The book is realistic and because of this it makes it very easy to relate to not just Elliot but also the others that come along. Margot Wood doesn’t sugarcoat the heavy topics in this book. I found that to be refreshing! It was a fun coming of age read showing the trials of young adulthood that most of us go through. Happy reading everyone!

ARC but I read it a year after receiving it oops
I had been following the author for some time now on Twitter, so I got a sense of what she is like. I watched as her book went from the writing process to the publishing stages and her emotions accompanying it. This book did feel Fresh. I have been thinking that I didn’t like “YA” contemporary books anymore, but this one changed it. The setting is college and the protagonist is bisexual, which was a good change of pace.
I could tell the author poured her heart and soul into this. It was the book written by a reader who wished there were x, y, and z things in a book. For example, the interactiveness, content warnings, specific decorations on specific page numbers ;), footnotes, and direct addresses to the reader. Although I did feel a lull in the middle of the novel, it picked back up to speed by the end. It reaffirmed that I do still (sometimes) like a new adult (?) contemporary romance book.
I had some problems with the explanation of certain topics discussed in Elliot's classes. It was brought up twice and both times I was unsure how to relate it to Elliot's current situation. The book also felt like new plot points just suddenly appeared, which I guess is how college works anyway. I look forward to having at least half of the fun Elliot has at my new college.
