"Adorably dysfunctional twenty-something seeks handsome veterinarian. Serious offers only."

This was a fun listen! I blasted through it on a day-long drive and it kept me engaged and laughing all the way through.

Madeleine is a 27-year-old real estate agent. Except that she's only ever sold one house - to her brother and his wife, her best friend. Maddie adopts an adorable puppy, not realizing that he's going to be a lot more than she can handle, and when he love-attacks a man on the street, she's mortified - especially when she learns that that man is her new vet. Tensions run high with Adam Foxe, but sparks soon fly too, and Maddie's life just may change with the introduction of this hot new vet in her small town.

When I read the description of this one, I knew I had to read it. I often felt like a hot mess at 27 and this spoke to my soul on that level. And dogs! How could I say no to a romcom with dogs. I think Mouse was a highlight for me - he was so fricken cute, and having dogs be a central focus of all that Maddie does was just as relatable as everything else about her life. My Darby is the center of my life too, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I also enjoyed Maddie and Adam as narrators. The insights we get, especially into Adam, made everyone more sympathetic to me. Adam could've easily come off as an asshole, but instead, getting things from his perspective made me like him even when he was pushing the envelope a little bit. I found Maddie funny, relatable, and sweet, and Adam was sexy af.

The plot here is pretty simple, nothing to write home about, but I did love how the fake dating scene flopped. I feel like that has never happened in any of the contemporary romances I've read, and I appreciated Adam's mom as a character so much after that. But basically, girl gets dog, girl falls in love (with dog), girl meets vet, girl falls in love with vet, complications complications complications, happily ever after. I can get behind that.

This one made me laugh, and I was invested all the way through. It's light, without much emotional impact, but it's still a good little romp, and it succeeded at getting me through 7 hours of an 11 hour drive.

With Grey’s signature humor and quirky characters, The Foxe & the Hound was a wonderfully enchanting story. Filled with the best kind of sexual tension between two antagonistic characters, the story takes readers on a winding journey between the new local veterinarian and the oft looked-over real estate agent he butts heads with at every turn.

Whenever I open a novel by this author I know that I’m going to find a heroine that’s down to earth and completely relateable. Madeleine’s clumsiness and quirks were endearing and they further humanized her in a simple way. She was real and a bit downtrodden, but her fire was startling and fierce; that juxtaposition in her was like a magnet for Dr. Adam Foxe. His resistance to her odd charm and his weakness for that very same thing created a brilliant push-pull that kept my stomach in a near constant state of butterflies. The good kind, the anticipation always growing and hoping and yearning.

Grey writes effortless humor. The kind that sneaks up on you and forces a laugh to fall past your lips; not a snort or a “hmph” but an actual laugh. She doesn’t set out for laughs but lets it happen organically and I find that incredibly desirable in a Rom-Com or any book in general. Her mix of heat and passion with that humor always manages to create an overall well-rounded love story. With ease and a finesse only Grey can do, she brings her best in The Foxe & the Hound. The romance was superb and the rest was a proverbial cherry on top of the already-great sundae.

Side note: If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like spoilers on other stories, I do recommend you read Anything You Can Do prior only because that couple is featured in this story.

Finished this on a Valentines day, and believed me it was better than roses and chocolates! It was light, fun and sweet. The whole plot may not be that original but the execution was definitely a win-win! And with a hot alpha male, a clumsy passionate heroine and an adorable mountain of a puppy, it was a very lovely read perfect for the love month.

Well I really liked this. Once in a while I'm in the mood for a contemporary, with an angsty, sexy and cute romance. I call them no brainer books lmao

Although the main characters annoyed me in the beginning, once the plot took flight, I found myself grinning and just having a good old time.

This was my first R.S Grey book but now I might just marathon her books.

The fmc is the classic naiv sunshine, a bit of a doormat and somewhat annoying which could be due to the way the Narrator portrayed her.
Not that spicy. Just a few sex scenes, nothing heavy or very detailed.

Actual rating: 4.5*. There were a few teeny, tiny things that bothered me so I've decided that "Anything You Can Do" needs to be higher rated, but this one doesn't deserve to be knocked down a whole star... But yes, I just felt that this one needed to be a little bit lower, but not enough to knock it down from a 5 to a 4. It was an absolutely wonderful read.

"I didn’t plan to be this dysfunctional at 27, but dysfunctionality has a way of creeping up on you."

This is Madeleine Thatcher (Lucas's sister's story) who is a real estate agent struggling to gain clients, is too kind-hearted and her nature leads her to adopt a cute but mischievous puppy from a shelter without knowing it's actual breed. So, here she is naming her little puppy- "Mouse" but what she doesn't expect is that her puppy is suddenly not so little anymore and he's growing to be about the size of a freaking mountain.

"The woman has an uncanny ability to pop up when I least expect her. Hamilton is small, but not that small, yet Madeleine is everywhere—and somehow, it’s not enough."

With her overly active and insolent puppy, Madeleine is finding it difficult to train him and Mouse isn't going to make it easy for her because while strolling in a park, he decides to jump on a man and ruin his perfectly expensive suit. Imagine her surprise when Madeleine finds out that the very same man turns out to be the new handsome vet in town.

“Are you mocking me?” “I feel like someone has to. "The amount of accidents that happen to you on a daily basis must break some kind of Guinness World Record.”

While I liked Adam, I didn't love him as much as I loved Lucas in his book. He was so damn hot and cold with Madeliene that his actions gave me constant whiplash. Madeliene though was totally relatable. She was clumsy, bubbly, funny and adorable. Her life wasn't perfect, to be quite frank, it was a hot mess. But I really liked to read about a main character who hasn't got everything together for the first time in a while and that made it easy for me to connect with her.

"She doesn’t want to be led on, and I don’t want her to slip through my fingers. So, it’s simple: it’s time to man the fuck up. I text her."

Overall, the book was very well written. The pace was satisfying and nothing was dragged out too much but at around 75% Adam's past came knocking at the door and that dulled my mood a bit. Though the epilogue was really sweet and it was really nice getting a peak into Daisy & Lucas's life too. I think I am on a binge read spree for this author's books, I'll just have to figure out what I'm going to read next though.

Loved every second of this. And to highlight just how much I was addicted to this book: I was running on an hour or two or sleep which a horrible work day ahead of me and instead of wallowing in my misery, I ended up busting out laughing several times because of Madeline's inner thoughts.

This author is absolutely hilarious - love love love every second.

The only thing that annoyed me was
Spoiler why Adam goes silent when Olivia shows up? You should think that is the moment to be on top of showing Madeline you're in it and still committed to her but he's awkward and ghosts her pretty much. They never address that and I feel like he got let off the hook too easy.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed this fucking ride. I'll be reading Lucas and Daisy now!

R.S. Grey is a hit or a miss for me and that’s cool it doesn’t detour me from at least giving her books a shot because you never know. I LOVED this book I loved the light and banter-y feeling we get. I giggled and cringed for the main character heck I want to be her bestie!

I love her love of dogs; being a cat person myself I might not get it completely but the fact that she doesn’t give one iota that he is going to be a big beast and she just keeps on keeping on. LOVE.

Her relationship with her SIL made me so happy, I do wish we had at least a few convos’s between the Main Character and her bro that would have really tied it all in for me. Just my thoughts.

Dr. Adam sure gets the surprise of his life, and how it all goes down loved it like I said I was just completely entertained.

That ending HA! HA! BEST KARMA EVER!

The narration is FANTASTIC, Luci Christian can deliver a line, her voice is soothing and I just couldn’t get enough. Joe well I have been a fan for a long time. ;)
Fun and Fresh would recommend.
