Original Review
Much better than the first. Some real character development. The way Ms. Collins writes, it seems obvious that she does not believe in including falling action after a climax. Pity.
Current Review
I feel it's not fair to rate these books individually. It's clear it's all one story broken up into several books. Idk if this book is better than the first, but I appreciate the author going deeper into the characters and world building. I enjoyed this book as well as the first one.
I didn't like how much Katniss was in the dark, and I don't know if it made sense for her to be. Joanna wasn't and she's captured and can reveal the secrets too. The whole plot almost didn't work, and Katniss almost ruined it all. And maybe if they were informed Peeta wouldn't have been captured.
I look forward to the final book.

I found myself doing less analysis while reading this, but it’s definitely a worthwhile read for me. I’m always gonna be amazed at how Suzanne Collins came up with the arena design.
