Macabre Gods

**with permission I’ve included some quotes that aren’t spoilers**

I held off reading Noire Moon so I could read these together. SO GLAD I DID.

This is a review of a kindly gifted ARC copy.

Please note, I adore all Elliott Rose has to offer and I’m an absolute slut for her writing.

She offers named chapters which I have a preference for.

If you’ve read Vengeful Gods (why haven’t you) you’ll be shot back through time. Knowing certain aspects absolutely doesn’t detract from this book at all. It was well done.

Let me set the tone for the book.

‘…this makes me feel like I could be taken, and not even my bones would ever be found.”’

‘“We’re the macabre gods who sit on our thrones and take in an ocean of flesh at our feet every night.”’

FMC
Posey/Poe/P

‘…a wilted rose inside a cage of bone and breath.’

Our girl went through it. All of it. But with a deviant heart can she come out stronger? Not without some help.

MMCs

Greyson
‘“The words you’re looking for are, thank you….I’m obsessed with your dick.”’

He’s cheeky and he’s got killer skills. Sometimes the most dangerous one in the room is your safest option. Period.

Hawke
‘I’ve fought too long and hard, and shed too many pieces of my soul in order to get this close.’

Hawke’s got some secrets and he’ll be keeping them. His hardened exterior has been earned and if P wants to see inside (or get him inside her hehe) she’ll need to see let her control go.

Angel
‘She’s a sickness… and I don’t know if I’ll ever find the cure.’

Oh my sweet lord goddess. Can you marry a fictional character? No. That’s weird. Sorry.

Plot
Absolutely didn’t see that set up coming. After reading Vengeful Gods I was expecting something a little different.
Remember to read through those TW people.

This is deliciously dark and depraved. Our FMC is dragged from her wildest fantasies in Noire Moon to a hellscape in Macabre Gods. Just when you think she couldn’t possibly endure anymore… you realise you’re only 10% into the book.

E.Rose is the queen of text blocks. I’m an absolute fan of this in books and it adds so much to the characters and plot.

That ending! Woahhhhh boy. Had me clutching my pearls. I could not sit down - I was pacing my dang room. Don’t do that to me. But also, amazing.

Spice
Read this sitting on a towel ladies.

Every reverse harem should have at least one lengthy (in)decent group scene. This book delivers and there’s no complaints.

The plot includes MM - but keeps strict to the pleasure focus being the FMC.

Overall

This book was fantastic. I didn’t put it down for two days. It’s longer than your average but it was so worth it. You can tell some love has gone into this book.

Get the release date saved, and get this one asap.

Things went in a circle all the time, and it just got old.
Any traumatic emotion? Sex. Something bad happened? Sex. I was missing more emotionally mature responses to most scenes, not things being 'resolved' with a gangbang.
While I do enjoy smut, this was honestly just not it. I DNF'ed it at 82%.

Oh my smuttness! I needed this book. Like I just needed Pie, Angel, Hawke, and Grey story. This is just as good if not better than the first one!!!! What I would say is I would read first the novella for this book and then read this book. And then read vengeful gods unless you don't want stuff ruined then read vengeful gods first. But man I really needed the story. Because it explains something that happens and the other book a lot better. Plus you also get to see how they got control of the house. But I need it all this, I needed this backstory so badly to understand everything. I love these characters so much, did I want more of their backstories? It definitely Angel, I really wanted to know what happened more with him. And also Grey, I feel like their stories I didn't get too much of a backstory but I wanted more. Like I really wanted in depth to see what happened to them. Because it's interesting when you hear what happened but you're like wait I want more!!

But it was perfect, it had the perfect amount of smut for the smut girls and enough of everything else that made you just happy. I'm so sad that the series is ended but man I love this book. If you guys want stories that will keep you on your toe guessing everything with all the smut in it this is the series.

Favorite quote
“This is the story where I’m so in love with you. I feel like I’m fighting to breathe, princess.”

… they all need therapy- and I'm not talking about the sex kind.
