This is cut from the same cloth as the Bleeding Stars books, but it's the part of the fabric that's white at the edge, where the pattern wasn't printed. Does that analogy make sense?

I don't care; I put about as much time and thought into it as Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland put into this book! I also just realized I have read one book by each of these authors before and I gave both of them 1 star, so I guess this is a bit of an improvement in that I didn't fucking hate it like I did Stepbrother of Ward fame and Beat from Keeland's bibliography.

That said, though, this was remarkably unspecial, but because this was clearly originally one book that was later split into two, probably because the authors like money, I'm reading the sequel to get the ending to the story because it's free on Audible Escape.

I knew early on one of the two twist in this book. I knew who Gia slept with, but I never saw that second twist coming. I don’t know where Rush and Gia go from here. How could Rush ever be ok with it. I don’t think I would ever look at her the same. Yikes...

The twist were crazy, but just a tiny bit too convenient and coincidental.

nooo un libro scritto dal magico duo, che finisce con un cliffhanger? era una duologia e non lo ricordavo minimamente. Newton datti una mossa a far uscire il seguito eh!!!

I enjoyed this book meaning I was into it while reading. But there was a lot that annoyed me.

Firstly, the characters:
Rush is not who they built him up to be in the beginning of the novel. Instead he...it's honestly hard to say. I don't like him. I don't like his hot and cold-ness. It's done super well in some novels but not this one. I like Gia more, but even she is a little annoying. I think what bothered me the most about both characters though was the way they spoke, and this will come down to the writing. Which is odd, because this duo of authors have written before and usually their characters are much better. The dialogue for both characters often felt like forced humor and sometimes childish. They didn't speak like their age says they should.

The secondary characters were very 2D. They only appear in times of need. Of them all I would say that Oak is the most we know about: that he has a child. and that's about it. He appears at work. Considering Gia lives with her best friend, I would think we would see her more. But nope. Only random times, if Gia is home crying or something. For being a best friend, ever since Gia met Rush, it seems like she dumped her friend. Yet another bad quality of Gia. Gia lives with a group of people apparently, and I get they are not vital but I don't know a description of one or any of them. Mind you, I guess since she doesn't see her friend much anymore, she definitely won't be hanging out with her roommates. At one point, Gia and Rush even end up in the apartment. It's in his POV and he mentions that they were home, but Gia takes no time for even three line intros. Be realistic. If I lived with multiple people and they were there when I came home with someone, I would say hi and maybe toss around a couple names in intro. I'm not asking to be buddies with them; just an acknowledgment.

I have to give kudos on the ending. When she finds out what happened to her, he isn't instant good guy who vows to take care of her. Rush is barely handling a woman let alone more so he wants to let her go. As much as we say good on men for standing up even when it's not theirs, Gia and Rush were in a new relationship, and it's a lot of "newness" to handle for him in the moment and I feel like many men would react the same. Given the timelines. If they were farther along in dating, then I would say hmmm. But in this case, I appreciated it.

Lastly, this book actually lacked in the romance I found. it was so based on sex and attraction. He loves her at the end but really, so many of his thoughts go back to sex. so. Hm.

I've already started book 2 because I do want to see how the rest of the story goes, even though I can already predict it. Good story but overall very meh book.

I thought it was a classic romantic comedy book, I was really pleasantly surprised. The characters of Rush and Gia were superb and there were twists I did not watch. Continues to the second part of the duet!! : )
