Atmospheric Tale Of Survival When There Is Little Atmosphere To Be Had. "What better place for a killer to hide than in the death zone" indeed. This is a book both for fans of survival thrillers and for nonfiction high altitude survival tales ala Krakaur's Into Thin Air. McCulloch, inspired by her own real-world ascent of the very mountain she bases this tale on, crafts a story that shows the breadth of who goes up these mountains and why, and what they encounter when they get there. The physical dangers are ever present, the psychological challenges are daunting, and when it begins to leak that the resident legend may not be so legendary after all - and that there may be a killer on the mountain to boot - the tension ratchets up as high and tight as it can get. Excellent tale excellently told, and very much recommended.

Absolutely breath-taking descriptions of the mountains and what they can offer! On thriller level, definitely predictable, but im a sucker for a hopeful ending :)

4.5/5 stars
I really enjoyed this book. It had all of my favorite thriller elements: a bunch of strangers stuck together, inclement weather, and a killer on the loose.
I would totally recommend this book, it just looses 1/2 a star because I felt that the twist was kind of predictable and the pacing was a little off.

I’ve never summited one of the highest peaks on Earth but this book makes me feel like I was there too! I love mystery books and have read quite a few but this book does one of the best things a thriller book can do: keep me guessing right till the end! Cecily is a great main character to follow as she uncovers not only herself, but the truth about what’s happening on the mountain. A must-read for anyone who loves mysteries and thrillers!!
