The descriptions of actually climbing the mountain were really cool and it is a fast read. But the thriller plot was very predictable.

The inexperience of the main character became really anoying. She doesn't know what is normal and is easily tricked by everyone. There is also very little reflection on her privelege and arrogance. I'd ve liked it more without the thriller plot and a more experienced main character.

I really enjoyed the setting of the book and it was a fast enjoyable read. The last 60ish pages felt pretty rushed and also required me to really pause on reality. I wonder what type of book could have been written if there was a murder/mystery as a plot trope and instead it was just a climbing book? It would have been just as interesting and probably more believable.

While reading this book, I felt like I was trying to survive and climb the mountain with Cecily. I appreciate the author's details on mountain climbing as I am not familiar with all the supplies and equipment involved. Even though the murderer was sort of predictable, there was another twist that I did not see coming. The climax of the story was very fast paced and suspenseful, but I wanted more closure with the ending even if you know what's implied.
