The story of a novice mountain climber who is stalked by a killer as she fights her way through the snowy death zone on her way to the summit of Manaslu is the perfect read for a muggy summer day.  Cecily Wong knows that there are plenty of ways she might die on Manaslu-ice, snow, avalanche, fall, lack of oxygen, but what she didn’t expect was a murder. As her fellow climbers start to succumb to a series accidents, Cecily begins to suspect the that someone is  hunting the members of her climbing party, and she’s afraid she’s next. If she wants to make it back down then mountain, she has to figure out who the killer is before she becomes the next victim.  What makes this whodunnit stand out is it’s setting-Manaslu, the 8th highest mountain on earth. While reading this book I was constantly reminded of Jon Krakauer’s non-fiction account of his own dangerous climb to Mt. Everest’s summit, Into Thin Air. This is a fun, entertaining, fast read.

Meh- I stayed up late to finish it so it wasn’t bad per se but I guessed most of the ending and it just felt really slow overall
