Did not like the plot or the POV of the mmc. Felt as though the fmc had potential, but where the other books in this series were so strong, this felt lackluster.

I had a feeling after that first murder that this book wasn’t for me. I have read 2 of her other books (Twisted & Scarred) and enjoyed them but this one just wasn’t my cup of tea. This is a retelling where Esmeralda (Amaya) and the Priest (Cade) end up together. Their relationship dynamic and Cade’s need to punish himself just erked me. Sadly, I didn’t end up liking any of the characters. Note: I listened to the audiobook & all the voice actors did well.
