Do you ever just read something and think "why did I do that to myself?" This was that for me. I loved the author's previous books in this series, but this was honestly painful. The underlying plot was so much more promising than what the story was. I dully understand the concept behind this series, and the main characters being villains, so the story is supposed to be dark. But this was just horrifying.

The characters were 2D, the writing was often repetitive and clearly lacked proofreading with the amount of grammatical errors and repeated words, the way that Amaya's emotions were basically disregarded by everyone until the last 100 pages or so was honestly baffling to me even for a dark romance.

Holy. Filth. No pun intended, seeing as the MC's are a priest & a stripper.

First of all, let me start by saying how much I absolutely love that stripping is shown as an art form in this book rather than a sex work profession like most see it as.

Second, this was the sexiest, the nastiest, in the series. I am here for it!! So sad I'm finished with the series now 😭😭😭

this was so f*cking twisted & honestly gut wrenching at times, but i ended up really having a good time. but the gasp i let out at the like 85% mark— the way this started out made me not sure i would like it, but it ended up being one of my faves of the series!! i’ve never seen the hunchback of norte dame so i know i didn’t pick up on any of the little easter eggs/throwbacks to the story, but i still had a fantastic time! i can’t wait to see what’s next from this series 👀

Priests shouldn’t be hot (I repeat 5x over) but this one was!! The story was nitty gritty and depressing. I really felt the main character struggle. Taking care of her neurodivergent brother and her disabled best friend on a strippers salary is very realistic. Then Cade the hot murderous priest who became obsessed with the main character was the icing on the cake.

hot morally gray priest meets & falls head first for an exotic dancer. need i say more? dark, devilish, & deviant. emily mcintire never disappoints. this is for you if you like:

•dark romance stand-alone retellings,
•villain gets the girl,
•touch her and ☠️,
•forbidden and taboo romances

Your mans may have said,  “I love you,” but Father Cade said,

“I still have my faith. Still believe in the unshakeable force that is God. It just pales in comparison to her. She is my Bible. My Scripture. My religion. She is everything, and I am nothing without her. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for her.”
