I enjoy reading this series - solid police procedural. I liked in this book how there were 2 cases - one a cold case and one an ongoing case. It helped put the focus on Detective Crosswhite, while also following her partners as they investigated a separate murder. This is definitely a series I’m going to keep on reading!

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for providing a free ARC for review!
This is not a solid 5 star for me, more like 4.5 and rounded up.
There are two different cases, starting with a scene from 1976 and this old case was not as interesting to me as the other one from today, also compared to the first two books not as gripping.
Teamwork and getting help from experts still make this interesting and keep this book from getting a lower rating. Although the solution to the (for me better case) second case feels a bit rushed in the end. And then there is a touch too much romance, I could have done with less, in the first two books it was enough.
Still, recommended, just no serial-killer, and no overlapping in the crimes from the first two books (as these where concluded and solved, to be expected). As I am not too fond of lawyers and stay away from [a:John Grisham|721|John Grisham|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1413390525p2/721.jpg] after reading a few books, I am not sure, wether to try one of the David Sloane books, but as I like Dugonis style I might just try it.

This is the third book in the Tracy Crosswhite series which is definitely a must read for all police procedural mystery lovers

Tracy's sister Sarah disappeared when she was a teen which haunted and shaped Tracy’s future. So when her friend Jenny asks her to investigate a 40 year cold case mysterious suicide of a teenager Tracy jumps right in. Meanwhile back in Seattle her team is investigating a domestic shooting where the mom and son have both confessed to killing the victim.

Robert Dugouni wrote a detailed police procedural book and I definitely enjoyed reading it. The cold case was more interesting than the present one and would rate overall 4 stars.

Many thanks to the publisher & NetGalley for this advance reader copy in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Another very enjoyable book in the Tracy Crosswhite series. This one covers two cases: one a cold case regarding a possible murder of a young Native American woman and the other a domestic violence/self-defense killing handled primarily by Kins.

The cold case was interesting and getting to know the individuals involved kept my attention. Tracy is truly gifted when it comes to solving cold cases but, while it was interesting, there really wasn't much of the excitement or edge of my seat thrill rides like in the previous two books. This one was much more about examining the evidence and solving the case. Don't get me wrong, there was at least one scene that made me lean forward and listen intently. But, for the most part, it lacked the action that I had come to expect. But I suppose it's not very realistic to have Tracy in mortal danger all the time...

The case that the A-Team worked back in Seattle wasn't given that much attention and was wrapped up quickly and, unfortunately, in an anti-climactic sort of way. It was all just laid out for us and, truly, I'm not really sure what the point was even having the case in the book. Besides showing us that Kins and the rest of the team still existed when Tracy wasn't in the scene. I hope that for the next book, the team works together or Tracy goes off on her own and works nothing but cold cases that involve murderous psychopaths.

So, even though this wasn't my favorite in the series, the cold case still had enough twists to keep me guessing either about those involved, how it happened, or what the motivations were.

Oh, I almost forgot, the repeated phrases are still present. Plenty of sentences along the lines of "if she was surprised, she didn't show it," and mentions of "280 pounds of dog." I hope some of that gets tackled in the next book.

I'd rate it 3.5 if I could.
