The major outline of the story remains the same: Allon is pulled back into the revenge spy game. This one included Christopher Keller and his back story in Ireland. As always, I love that these books increase my interest in world events. I was glad to see that this one wasn't only Allon saving some woman. It's a personal complaint of mine.
I have been trying to read these in order and I grabbed the wrong English one off the shelf. I was almost 1/3 of the way in before I realized this. I would strongly recommend that you read The English GIRL before you read the English SPY as it refers to some plot spoiling information from the former novel. My bad. Still thoroughly enjoyable.

I have to say, Silva is the rare author who manages to keep his edge. It seems as though of late I've been saying goodbye to authors who have reached their sell-by date, but Silva cranks on.
Granted it's getting a bit hard to imagine Gabriel as still capable of his exploits, but I'm willing to suspend disbelief if the payoff is good, and here we are, at #15, and the plot, places, and characters continue to keep me on the edge of my seat. You go, Daniel!

So good! I'm going to have to read the rest of the books!
this was pretty good. a real page turner, but it suffered from a simple childlike world view where good guys and bad guys are clearly delineated. it didn't help that Paris bombings and the jingoistic aftermath reverberated in my head as i finished the book. the end of the book was pure schmaltz.
