When I saw this book likened to [b:Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist|6241591|Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist|Rachel Cohn|/assets/nocover/60x80.png|929639], which I love love loved, I decided I absolutely had to read it. To say it fell short would be a giant understatement. It was far more emo than I expected it to be. Though I'm not a graphic novel person, I enjoyed the strips and illustrations between chapters. They were beautifully done. The story just fell flat. I mean, it took me almost a month to finish it... in fairness, the fact that it was an actual hardcover book and not an ebook only added to my lack of desire to read it. But, let's face it, if I was really that into the book, I wouldn't have let that stop me.
I can't really point out what it was I didn't like. I just know it didn't grab me.

this book was unexpected. I was not sure what I was expecting but this was not it. filled with cartoon strips and arty drawings this book is evidence of what will be lost in the ebook revolution. the story was cute and the characters were surprisingly believable but at points I found the pacing to be a little off as this story is not really about any big events just everyday life, which for no apparent reason was still wonderfully interesting.
I wasn't very impressed by this book. I couldn't get into it properly. It started off okay but as it progressed, I became increasingly more bored.
I liked the little comic strips. I wish there had been more of that cuteness and humour infused into the story. I also enjoyed the way Evan's chapters were song titles from The Beatles and Lucy's chapters were song titles from The Beach Boys(well, I'm guessing this one because I'm not the biggest Beach Boys fan except for five or six songs I love by them).
I didn't really like Evan very much. Not as a romantic lead, anyway. I've known guys like him who go off on opinionated rambles and I've always found it annoying. Not that I don't like opinions but it's really annoying when someone talks about something you don't know anything about, like some movie you've never heard about. It's fine to say something like "Have you seen Pan's Labyrinth? It's amazing." but I asked someone that question and they said no, I'd probably just give up talking about it unless they demanded more information. You know? This whole paragraph was a pointless ramble.
Anyway, there was something about Evan that didn't click with me. I think it made the whole book pretty "meh" for me.
So, the biggest positive were the comic strips.

Loved this! Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is a bit of predictability... But I really enjoyed the characters and LOVED the added art and comic strips!
(It gets two stars for the cover)
I honestly can't say I enjoyed this book. When I saw it, the cover was so awesome that I thought how could it not be good? The back summary seemed good. I was disappointed though. The way it was written just seemed so...dry and boring. I never give up on books though, so I forced myself to finish it - luckily it was a short read. I found myself really disliking Lucy, she just complained and nagged about everything. The comics at the end of each chapter was like overkill. In my opinion, it added nothing to the story and was just pointless, like the author just wanted to show off some of his art. More than anything, though, the ending was a huge let down, but that's all I'll say.

I started this book with high hopes, but it ultimately disappointed. I couldn't make myself care enough about the characters and the writing didn't make me feel much emotion besides some boredom. I liked the concept of the book, but the execution just didn't work for me.
Whilst aesthetically beautiful in the way it combined illustration and writing, this story felt quite old and outdated. It felt like not much was going on plot wise, but I also didn't care about the characters and so was quite bored overall.
Winter Town was an okay read. It didn't blow me away. It was a novel of teenage angst and romance with the added bonus of a comic strip drawn by the lead character at the end of each chapter.
