The book started out so riveting and promising, but then jumped 500 years into the future and I was so disoriented and disinterested in the people of that time that I had to stop reading.  Also, the people are so incredibly catholic? Christian? and refer to "our holy father" so constantly that it was grating.

This one required some brainpower and maybe too much brainpower for me? The beginning was slow and it was hard for me to follow, but I blame that on my comprehension not the author’s writing. About 70% in I understood enough and was committed and I’m glad I finished. A dystopian that hits close to home.

A cross between Ellison’s Invisible Man and the Hunger Games, it has the potential to be a powerful read and generate good discussion for book clubs. But it proves a hard read for anyone at least a little culturally aware, especially at this moment in the US. I believe it to be an essential read, especially for those still beginning their awareness journey.
