I was expecting to really enjoy this book, but it didn’t do it for me. Not that it was bad, but it wasted an awful lot of words trying to be quirky and fun, almost getting there but, for me, missing it. I may come back to Auntie Poldi another time.
Very enjoyable. A little wacky and reminiscent of Inspector Clouseau, but very lovable. Looking forward to book #2!
Definitely translated, and already falling between two cultures - Bavaria and Sicily - the experience was a little uneven in English. I fell in love with the setup and the first third, but the book seemed more labored as it went on. I will still be interested to read the next one that gets translated, as you never know how series develop.
I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery set in Sicily. It’s lighthearted and Auntie Poldi is a delightfully eccentric and head strong character. It is a book in translation and it did feel a bit clunky at times but I still liked it. It is obviously the first in a series and it’s interesting enough that I’ll pick up the next installment when it comes out.
Spunky and sassy Auntie Poldi retires to Sicily then puts her nose into the neighbors business, and works to solve a local crime. Definitely a cozy mystery, but a little too dumb for my likes.
