It took me a while to get used to the quirky narrative voice, but I enjoyed the author's vivid depictions of Sicily.

A cute mystery with a bit of an Auntie Name flair to it.

Silly

The translation seems bumpy at times. I do not understand why the nephew is telling the story- I think it’d be much better without his interruptions. I doubt I will read the rest of the series.

I won this book in a giveaway and would not likely otherwise have picked it up. That said, it was an entertaining light mystery, with a few too improbable and unnecessary bits tossed in (Ringo? really?).
The depictions of life and culture in Sicily were enjoyable and Poldi is an entertaining character.

A cozy mystery set in Sicily whose main character is German. It’s an interesting narrative voice with her nephew relating everything that happened as she pushed herself into solving the mystery. I liked it, and have the sequel ready to pick up at the library!

I’d call this a cozy mystery. It was fun, especially the character of Poldi and the setting of Sicily. I enjoyed it but have honestly been reading a lot of fast paced books that I’ve been living and this just felt a little to slow to me. The mystery was a little twisty but honestly I wasn’t overly invested in figuring out “who done it”.

A mystery series set in Italy (Sicily) with irreverent Auntie Poldi interfering with police investigations (fortunately, since of course they are fairly incompetent). Picked in my quest to read more books set in Italy. This was fun but a bit on the crude side for me; I probably won’t continue with the series.

Totally enjoyed this book that I won from #BookishFirst! A 60-year-old widow, Auntie Poldi, moves from Munich to Sicily (where her in laws live) to have a view of the sea and drink herself to death. That plan is thwarted as she feels compelled to investigate the murder of her young errand boy. Needless to say, she is a character! The writing is humorous and smoothly flowing (if a bit long-winded). Totally recommend! Hope for more! 4⭐️

This was a fun book. I really liked the setting and I liked the characters and the mystery. Aunt Poldi is bold and beautiful.
