Had to read for class but actually enjoyed it. Very “make your life your own” sort of story.

*Review based on experiencing the book as an audiobook

I don’t know if I have the words to express how I felt about this book. It made me laugh, cry, scream in frustration, and gasp in shock with almost every page. It was heartbreaking, gut wrenching, and exhilarating and I am in awe of the author’s strength to share her story. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook as the author narrates it herself which is the icing on the cake.

A book everyone should read. Will make you appreciate your parents, even if they weren't the best. Lots of trauma, very sad-- but Jeannette Walls does such a great job of showing the good moments in her childhood and the things she admires about her parents even as she details chapter after chapter of neglect and abuse.
