Just as much fun as the first two. I could read about finlay and Vera’s misadventures forever.

Man, I rated the first book in the series 5 stars, and it's just been doing downhill since. This one felt like a long filler that should have been 3 chapters.

Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun follows Finlay and Vero over the course of a week where they're participating in the citizens police academy (being led by Nick). Feliks, the mob boss who Finlay's shenanigans have her tangled up with, has a looming threat of turning Finlay over to the police unless she can figure out the identity of EasyClean before the week is up.

This was a RIDE. Couldn't put it down because I was having too much fun reading. I love these characters. Finlay and Vero are such an iconic duo and they constantly have me in stitches. On top of being hilarious and kind of ridiculous, Elle Cosimano manages to make the stakes feel super high. I'm having lots of fun, but I'm on the edge of my seat nervous for these characters at the same time. The somewhat isolated setting of the police academy gave the story an added thrill.

The ending of every book in this series gives me the same feeling as a season of my favorite show ending on a cliffhanger. I'm so sad I have to wait a whole year to find out what happens next, but I'll gladly keep reading as long as Elle Cosimano keeps writing!

thank you to netgalley and to the publisher for an arc in exchange for my honest review!

First, I'm excited this series has gotten picked up for seven total books. This news broke while I was reading this one, and I'm very into keeping this universe going. These characters are comfort reads.

Second, I was in a mood for most of March, so it could've clouded my experience while reading. I don't know about any of y'all, but that time change hit real hard this year. I can't explain why.

Now, for the actual book review. I enjoyed it. I had a difficult time concentrating and doing a traditional reading marathon, but overall I'm fine with how it all played out. It's not my favorite in the series, but it's definitely not going to stop me from preordering book 4.

I think the main issue for me was that I couldn't buy into this police academy training week where normal people from the streets had a sleep away camp. I can't process how everyone was able to take time away to be part of this. It might've been explained, but I missed it.
