After the Book of Azrael, this book was much slower. The banter between characters made the read worth it. The story was dragged out and could have been 300 pages less. The different POVs was interesting, it would get confusing when there were flashbacks and with multiple characters. The creating trust and love and a family of friends was heart warming. The story continued to drag on and on. The good "smutty stuff" was repetitive and those parts didn't really seem to match with the characters, it was like watching something so awkward and not really being to look away. The "foreshadowing" was a mix, some things made my jaw drop and I shocked, others were a little insulting, I mean loaves of bread and not bread crumbs. I want to read the next book and hope that it is a good combination of the first two, more Book of Azrael, less Throne of Broken Gods

Reading Order: This is not an interconnected series; it is a series dealing with the same plot and characters. I definitely recommend you read these in order. It's planned to be a five-book series.
General Thoughts: I have been meaning to read this series forever, but the sheer length of the books scared me off for a bit. They are LONG! This one had me getting impatient at a few places, but in the best ways. I was worried this novel was going to drag or feel like a bridge novel, but it didn't.
The author did a wonderful job keeping tension and building it, keeping interest in the characters and the world. We were introduced to more character dynamics and more POVs in this book more often and more frequently. It can be tricky to manage that many POVs, but I thought the author handled it well.
I always love finding a new romantasy series that I'm absolutely in love with. So I'm very excited about this series. And yes, I am still semi-regretting starting another incomplete five-book series where only the first two books are out, but this one is honestly worth the pain and suffering that it will cause me. This is fantasy and romantasy at its best, and I'm glad I finally gave in and read these.
If you like dark romantasy, give the series a go.
